Checked bags on AMTRAK with no checked bags sign

New York City Apr 3, 2014 at 6:13 AM

      Hi all,

I'm going to go to Paoli, PA from New York, NY with AMTRAK. The sign on the schedule says the train has no checked bags. But I have to bring my big bag because I will continue the trip (also with AMTRAK) to Washington DC then head home to Indonesia. Is it possible to just bring the luggage with me even if it says no checked bag?

I know this week is the official Spring time but was wondering if there are areas near the places i mentioned that we can see some decent snow? Not really for skiing but where my 4 yr old can play and experience it? Blame it on the movie Frozen she's been asking to see snow and we live in a tropical country! Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

      EWR to NYC

New York City 20 hours ago

I usually fly into LGA, but will be leaving out of EWR tomorrow night. I'm a cheapskate and prefer public transportation. I've read that bus #62 takes you from Penn station to EWR. Is that right? Any particulars I need to know? Where exactly do I catch it. How long can I reasonably expect it to take? My flight is at 7:45pm. Thanks!

Hallo, we will stay 2 nights in Plattsburgh in June, we will be coming from Niagara Falls and then head out to Montreal, so we decided to stay there for a couple of nights to rest and see some nature. Is there something you would recomend visiting on the way from Niagara to Plattsburgh or from Plattsburgh to Montreal? Thank you

What is there to do in the Plattsburgh, NY area and about 20 miles radius?

by travelnut71 Online Now Oct 5, 2011 at 1:51 PM

I will be going this weekend. I don't fish, I don't do mountain climbing but I like to walk and was thinking along the lines of nice walks, hikes not too hard, I also saw Ausable Chasm, I see little floaties in some pictures, what are those for? Does anyone have information for boat rides? Why is Lake Placid so popular?

      Thank you!

    • Buying a train ticket: Plattsburgh, NY to NYC

by ramot418 Online Now Apr 29, 2011 at 7:38 AM

From what I have managed to find out:
      1. There is NO ticket office at the Plattsburgh train station.
      2. The only way for me to buy a ticket is online.
      3. If I do buy online, the only way to get the actual ticket is having it mailed to me via regular mail!!! No such thing as an e-ticket!
      4. Another option: Make a reservation up to 3 days in advance, receive a booking code, and pay the conductor on board (cash).

      Is this for real??

by ramot418 Online Now Apr 22, 2011 at 8:43 AM

While visiting Montreal, I plan to do some shopping in Plattsburgh - like I did about 4 years ago. What I'd like to know is if the GAP store in the big shopping mall still exists? I'm having trouble confirming this as the GAP web site does not list this store. Thank you.

by passthatversace Online Now Aug 26, 2007 at 2:51 PM

I'm from Canada and was planning on taking a day trip to Plattsburgh on Labor Day to stock up on school supplies (i.e.: Wal-Mart, Target, Champlain Centre).

Will they be open, or closed? Most stores here in Canada will be closed on that day, so I'm just making sure :) Thanks!

      Moving to Plattsburgh

by tvdandy Online Now Oct 28, 2005 at 11:14 AM

      Hello guys and gals,

I am considering excepting an offer and making a move to Plattsburgh, and am wondering if anybody can give me a heads up on what's it like to live there. Is the downtown much, is it a good walking downtown with stuff to do, or is it all boarded up? Are there things to do for young professionals. Redneck drunks or cool people:) Any responses, good or bad, would be much appreciated. Thanks
