4 days around Pisa - accomodation?

Hi All! We will arrive for 4 days to Pisa. We would like to look around in Pisa, Firenze, around the beach etc. We are looking for a cheap accomodation. My question would be, is it worth to stay around pisa (viareggio, montecatini term) for cheaper price? Or we will pay the difference for transportation? I find train a little bit expensive. Is the bus cheaper? Is there any english version homepage for busses in Tuscana?
