    • Getting around Villers-Bretonneux

      Villers-Bretonneux Apr 30, 2013 at 3:29 PM

Hi, I was just wondering how easy it is to get around the town of Villers-Bretonneux. We will be coming from Belgium by train and arriving at Villers-Bretonneux station. Is it easy to walk around or should we hire a car?
      Thank you.

      Barges on the river Oise?

      Compiègne Mar 27, 2013 at 12:21 PM

There used to be plenty of commercial river traffic passing through Compiegne. Is it still as busy these days? Barge spotting is a very interesting pastime!

Le Crotoy Jan 20, 2013 at 8:00 AM

We are a party of 10 and hope to stay in Le Crotoy from 6th July 2013. We need to travel from Disneyland Paris to Le Crotoy on the 6th. As we have children in party we would like to travel via private taxi/bus. Does such a service exist? Is there an alternative? If we get to Le Crotoy we will then need a taxi/bus to Beauvais airport on 13th July. Any suggestions?

How far is Pozieres from Albert?

      Pozières Aug 23, 2012 at 3:09 AM

I will be in Albert this Sunday and want to visit Pozieres and especially the cemetery, where my great uncle is buried. I am coming by train so will have to rely on public transport. I am happy to walk but how far is Pozieres from Albert? How long do you think it will take me? There is an option of taking a private tour from Albert but it's quite expensive. How easy would it be to get a taxi?

      Shopping at Easter

      Picardie Oct 1, 2011 at 7:01 AM

I am going to France for a few days at the beginning of April. I am thinking of extending my stay so that I am there over the Easter weekend (Friday-Monday). My destination for Easter would be St Valery-sur-Somme, Picardy. I am just wondering if I am likely to find anything open, ie, shops and markets during a bank holiday weekend. I will have a car so can travel to other nearby locations for shopping or meals out. If anyone can help with some guidance I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Is there a tea shop where you have an extensive collection of teas that you can sample and make up yourself? We visited one last ear and I think it was there.

      Cathedral opening hours

      Amiens Aug 20, 2010 at 1:32 PM

Hello, I intend to be in Amiens next October, and of course I plan to visit the famous Cathedral. I've read that the Cathedral is open from 8:30 to 17:30 during October. Nevertheless the Cathedral site mentions that the tour hour (on October) is at 15:45. OK - at first, I understood that free visits are from 8:30 to 17h, excluding mass times, and that there is a paid guided tour at 15:45. But... on other months (July, June, August...) there are times for "visits" and for "free visits" ("visite libre"). So, what's the difference between a free visit time and just an "open" time? Will I have problems to visit (without tour) the cathedral out of the 15:45 visit? I planned to be in the Cathedral during morning, and I didn't want to arrive there just to see the door closed, or access forbidden. Thanks in advance, merci.
