Have you priced the Andaman Beach Suites Lindy? Stayed here a few years ago with Ash. It was cheap, close to the action and has a pool.

Phuket is the most expensive city in Thailand, most expensive transportation too. And going at the most expensive time of the year! Plus you will probably have to fly there from Bangkok! Thanks Betts and Rich. Havent looked at the Andaman Betts, but they seem pretty keen on this Bliss place. It will end up costing them310 each for 7 nights with breakfast, so I dont think thats too bad!!! Rich, they are not too interested in Bangkok, just really wanna go and chill (and drink!) in tropics for a week, so Phuket is their desired destination. Thanks anyway :)

Betts I just checked out Andaman on the cheap hotels site suggested and it comes in around2200 (cheapest room) for the week in December, so a bit dearer than the Bliss, but Ill suggest it to Ben, as it seems to be in a more central location.

Staying a week longer doesn't cost that much more unless they only choose expensive places to eat and stay at. With hotel rooms with air, TV and private toilet starting around 600 baht in Bangkok (even cheaper in Pattaya where nightlife is cheaper than Phuket,) another week would have only cost around 4000 baht more. Yes I realise that Rich, the the biggest cost for us to travel to any part of Asia is the actual airfare, once you are there, its all super cheap, accommodation, meals, drinks, shopping etc. However, these boys seem to have no desire to go to Bangkok, they simply want to go Phuket for a week. It seems they will get away with airfaire and 7 nts accommodation for less than1300AUD so I recon thats pretty good, especially considering it is in December and thats peak season!! When I travel to Asia, I always do it myself (ie no group tour stuff - hate that) and if I get my accomm and flights for under1000 per week, then I perceive that to be good value. And once again, with my upcoming Hong Kong trip, ive got 2 weeks for 2 people for less that4,000, so very happy with that :) Cheers for all your answers Rich

Lindy, have you looked at Swiss Palm Beach Hotel, they could have 2 x 2 bedroom apartments with a rollaway in one so 3 people in 1 apartment and 4 in the other, would be heaps more room for them plus a big lounge room,kitchen with huge fridge, 2 bathrooms, 2 x tv's etc. Works out to about2000. They also have a 3 bedroom apartment, that one sleeps 6 so throw in a rollaway and that would be heaps cheaper again. Nice pool wth swim up pool bar, very cheap restaurant and good location, 150 metres from the beach, 10 min walk to Bangla. Cathy

I also meant to say the 3 bedroom one is very nice, bathroom upstairs and downstairs, 2 balconies, 3 flat screen tv's, dvd player etc. I took lots of photos of some of the apartments, let me know if you want to see them to show the boys. Cathy

thanks a lot Cathy, I did remember someone staying at this place and highly recommending it, but could not think who it was or what the actual name of the place was!!! Getting too old, the memory is fading quickly!!! Ive bookmarked their website and Ill show it to Ben today- thanks a lot Cathy. And you recon its only about a 10 minute walk to Bangla Road, they dont want to be any further away than that!!!

We stay there every year Lindy, definately only a 10 min walk, quicker if needed lol, I have walked back from Jungceylon in 7 minutes haha. Cathy

Hey, I recently stayed at the Crown Hostel in Phuket and thought it was great! Really cheap prices and still nice and clean. It is located in the middle of shopping, restaurants and bars. It's also really close to the beautiful beach! You should check it out. http://crownhostelphuket.com
