Hi! I have been reading about Phuket and it's beaches/areas. And I ended to choose between these 3 beaches; Kata Beach, Karon Beach or Nai Harn Beach.... Any idea what beach is the best choise for July? I mean the most save (sheltered) place to swim? I did read that Nai Harn Beach is not good to swim at all in July :( So maybe that is not for me.... So how is Kata Beach or Karon Beach? Are they more save to swim in July? I don't know about Patong beach... Is that save to swim in July? I just know that Patong is very very busy place with plenty of things to do... But maybe I want more relax/quiet place...
Both Kata and Karon are excellent beaches...forget Patong! Blu

The weather for July is going to be pretty much the same for all the beaches on the island. Regards John

The best time to go to phuket is between the months of december to march as the rainy days are over... If you want a quiet beach Nai Harn is the best choice as it is the smallest of the 3, I think, so its bound to be less crowded.

I am not so worried about the rain (I did read the rain is usually for short time, not whole day...). But I am more worried about the ocean + waves (too strong waves)... Cape Panwa/Chalong Bay, is that area more save to swim? More sheltered from the waves?

Yes, worry about the ocean, there are some very strong and dangerous undercurrents and when the red flags are flown on the beach they 'mean it' don't swim, even if it does look rough there are strong undercurrents. It's the rainy season also. had you thought about other islands where the weather is better at that time such as Koh samui, Koh Chang etc? If you are settled on Phuket Nai Harn as someone else pinted out is the quietest, Patong the busiest ( though not so much in July becuaee of the rainy season ), Karon and kata note that a large number of hotels and resorts are not on the beach so if you are actualy looking for a place on the beach then you are very limited indeed.

As far as the rain, well, I know Phuket well and you could have no rain or it could be a gentle rain for a short while, it could be day long rain or it could be a tropical storm with road floods. If yuo choose to go in the monsoon season then you are chancing your luck. Of course at that time hotels are the cheapest of the year.
