I found Ibis Hotel in Patong beach very ideal. It is close to the beach, to night life, shopping and restaurants at the same time calm and peaceful. It is great value for money.

A good hotel is what fits your lifestyle and budget in an area where you want to stay.
For any meaningful recommendation you should include a price range and roughly where you want this hotel.

You don't want to be in Phuket town unless you really want to be in the city. In case you do though, most in the city are like a 2 and 3 star accomediations and I would stay at the Pearl....at least they have a pool.

Hi riorich55, We have six persons and we intend to spend 6 days in Sydney. We estimate we would spend about $2000 each. But we can't seem to get 3-room apartments.

You have a lot of money available for a short holiday. (Especially if it is Thailand and not Australia!) Get 3 different places! Easier to find 3 rooms for 2 people each if this "6 persons" are all adults!
