    > IS IT SAFE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT Yes. > BEST BARGAIN PLACES TO SHOP This one's a little confusing. What exactly are you shopping for? If you want bargains, then Center City is NOT the place to find them; you're better off at Franklin Mills Mall or perhaps King of Prussia. However, you can have a lot of fun shopping at Macy's or any of dozens of other shops on Market Street.

If you do not have a car, King of Prussia and Franklin Mills will cost you an arm and a leg to get to via cab. I'm not sure of the trains running to/ from the suburbs but the concierge at your hotel should be able to make suggestions for the best way to get around. Since you are in the city, there are plenty of boutiques and shops right in the city center. Start at Rittenhouse Square and work your way around the main streets like Locust, Walnut, Chestnut. The numbered cross streets run from Broad to 30th, but that's alot of walking. Check out gophila.com for other suggestions. Happy shopping!

There are lots of bargain places in center city, such as Daffy's, Ross, in the Gallery there are K-mart & Old Navy and many more. Daffy's is not far from where you will be staying (17th & Chestnut, I believe). Ross is near the Gallery at 8th & Market. Cabs are expensive. Your hotel is near the Market st subway & Suburban station. Public transit is safe as long as you are aware of your surroundings. King of Prussia mall is only for very well off people.
