All i know is Nawaf Bedouin Camp, (nawafpetra@yahoo.com). Nawaf will cook in traditional Bedouin style on a fire Little bit expensive at 95JD a night but you only there once. Free transport to Petra. Hope this is of help. I lived in Jordan for 5 yrs and still have good friends there.

Yes, you can and it is a very nice experience. You can either stay with them at their home or ask them to take you to sleep in a cave in the mountains around Petra. I did both and arranged this through Mohammed Ali Albedool of Bedouin Discovery. The Albedool family live in Uhm Sayhoun, a small village close to Petra and Wadi Musa. I prefer (the locals of) Uhm Sayhoun, because here live the bedouin who were evicted from Petra in the '80s and are (might I say, badly) disadvantaged in their living circumstances as opposed to the locals of Wadi Musa. So I prefer to spend my money in Uhm Sayoun. One night shouldn't be more than JOD45 - 50 including the drive to a cave, breakfast, dinner. Just contact them through their website. You could also easily arrange this on the spot in or around Petra. Ask one of the locals. They will be pleased to earn a few dinars. Have a great time! I know you will ; )
