Tarapoto to San Ignacio, then into Ecuador

What is the easiest approach to getting into Ecuador via bus from Tarapoto? I've been searching online for bus schedules but can't seem to find anything about it. Anyone know how long this trip takes and where exactly you would need to catch buses to (since it looks like there isn't any straight shot from the one to other). Also, any idea how time consuming and/or difficult the border crossing is in San Ignacio? Thanks:)
