budget trip to perth

hey there i'll be in perth for 5 days o a budget trip. wondering what outdoorsy activities are available there that can fit into a shoestring budget. also i'm quite into watersports so are there any recommendations for good beaches where i can do windsurfing or surfing rentals? since i havent done surfing b4, are there things like 1 day surf clinics at the beaches there(like at Kuta, Bali)? what are the rates like for rentals and for such clinics? cheers john
