    • recommended duration in Philadelphia

      Philadelphia Jan 24, 2015 at 1:59 AM

Hi, All. My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to Northeastern USA in the beginning of April 2015. We will be flying into PHL, then NYC, then BOS. The entirety of the trip will be 10 days.

I've been looking at previous forum questions and looked on (very useful website!), and wanted to know how many days VTers would recommend spending in Philly. We are trying to figure out how many days to allot to each city (with as many days as we can in NYC). I know it's a tough question to answer, as it's all dependent on individual tastes, but what are your recommendations to hit the typical "top sites" of the "City of Brotherly Love".

We are in our 30's, love culture and food, and seeing the beautiful sites and landmarks of a city. We will definitely hit the historic area, South Philly, and the multitude of museums available.

      Thanks in advance!

Hotel Suggestions near 30th Street Station

      Philadelphia Apr 29, 2014 at 3:58 AM

It is a possibility that on our way to Washington D.C. later this year we may be arriving relatively late at night in Philadelphia from upstate NY at about 10:45 p.m. Didn't want to have to travel far for a hotel, so wonder if anyone has any nearby recommendations.

      Longwood Apr 17, 2014 at 4:47 PM

We will be visiting Longwood Gardens on a Monday this June with our 2 year old in a stroller. How many hours should we anticipate spending there assuming the weather is decent? We would like to take our time as it is very unlikely we will ever have the opportunity to go back.
Also, are there any areas for children to run around and play?

      Pittsburgh Mar 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Hi all. I'm planning a stay in Pittsburgh to visit my nephew at Carnegie Mellon. I've narrowed the hotels down to the Hilton Garden Inn in Oakland and the Marriott Courtyard in Shadyside (don't ask me about my winnowing criteria). Anyone familiar with these neighborhoods or hotels to help me tip the balance one way or another? Thanks much.

I have a 2-day visit to Pittsburgh. Hope to spend one day out of the city. What are the most recommended attractions within a one-hour drive (or so)?
Also, I am overwhelmed by the lists of city must-do places. And I realize everyone has different ideas. But was are the absolute MUST see/do in the city. (not too energy intensive as one of us is a senior)
Also looking for reasonably price accommodations near Carnegie Mellon University. Have been unsuccessful so far!
      Thanks again!

We're traveling to PIttsburgh with another couple and our/their children for a weekend getaway. Planning on going to the zoo, aviary, conservatory and possibly the children's museum. Looking for a hotel that won't break the bank. we are driving ourselves, and don't mind being outside of the city. We'd love a hotel with an indoor pool, connecting rooms and maybe a small table so the adults can sit and have a glass of wine/beer after we put the kids to bed! Recommendations on an area to look or specific hotel?
