For a start: How do you get to Pauanui? I have a Coromandel Peninsula visitor guide, and there is no rental company listed. But there are some options in Whitianga which is not too far from Pauanui: Pegasus: http://www.carrentalscoromandel.co.nz/ NZ Rent a Car: http://www.whitianga.co.nz/rental.html If you somehow get to Pauanui by helicopter or whatever, you could take the boat to Tairua (5 min, just across the river) and from there get on a shuttle bus to Whitianga.

Thanks for the info. I would be flying in in my Nanchang aircraft http://www.nanchang.zoomshare.com/ I could land at Whitianga and drop of my passenger to arrange a rental car to drive to Pauanui while I fly the Chang there.
