Hi guys, Going to Thailand for the first time with my gf and we're gonna be in Pattaya for 4 nights. I just want to know will see enjoy the nightlife there. She is very open minded and I already warned her about the sex industry. She still insist on going even though I suggested Phuket and Koh Samui. Have anyone ever bring their girlfriend to a go go bar before or similar experience? Thanks!
You will see the same thing in Phuket, only smaller scale and more expensive! First, many tourists bring their girlfriends, wives and children to Pattaya because it is a cheap holiday. In the evening the malls are full of tourist couples, even with their children. On the weekends you will find the beach full of Thai citizens and their families. I don't know what you expect to see but just like Bangkok you will have go-go bars and beer bars. You won't even see naked people on the beach like you do in Europe and other countries. It is not unusual to see tourist couples sitting at beer bars (open sided bars) drinking and whatever. If you expect to see people engaged in sex out in the open you will be disappointed. You may see more nudity and crudeness on a beach near where you live. To make it easier to walk to many places get a hotel on Pattaya Second Road or nearby, this road is also known as Pattaya Sai Song. There are many hotels in all price ranges to choose from. Several modern malls, restaurants, street vendors, nightlife of all sorts available on Sai Song and Pattaya Beach Road. Also on some of the side sois like Soi Honey Inn, Soi Boukhaw, Soi 8 and Soi Diana. Beer bars are cheaper to drink at. Map of Pattaya City. thaiwaysmagazine.com/pattaya... Taxi from Bangkok around 1000-1200 baht. Bus from Ekamai bus terminal Bangkok, off a Skytrain stop, is around 115 baht for the 2 hour ride. Have fun.

If you actually want a good beach to swim at do not visit Pattaya! Visit Phuket or some other island destination. Pattaya Beach is no good for tourists to swim at. Okay for sunbathing, jogging, shopping and restaurants. Many hotels have pools if you want to get wet. You can swim at Koh Larn (30 baht ferry ride) and swim at Jomtien Beach. Basic hotel room with air starts around 600 baht. This is a room that has private toilet, refrigerator and TV. Rooms available up to 6000 baht a night too! OK

Pattaya is seedy to a lot of people, mainly people who have never been! The nightlife is wonderful, you will never see as many bars in one place. Some bars have live music, the shopping centres are busy on an evening and the food is good. Go Go bars are an experience and many couples go to them, my girlfriend loves them! Walking street is worth going for a couple of hours but it can be expensive. I would suggest 2nd road upwards for bars as they are half the price. Enjoy - I always do!

Don't take sand to the beach, but if you do, you're better off to go to Koh Samui or Phuket, why bother with Pattaya with a girlfriend when you can go to a nice island instead. Phi Phi would be great to go to on a side excursion from Phuket too. cheers tommy x
