No problem getting from Bangkok to Pattaya. There has never been any real problem getting there anyway! The highway to Pattaya is a raised highway. The flooding in Bangkok seems to be more under control and it is safe to visit there. Choose a hotel in the Siam, Sukhumvit or Pratunam area of Bangkok near the rail service. Bangkok safety; don't drink or bathe in the floodwater. Drink bottled water. Don't get so drunk you lose control of your common sense!

    Rail service Bangkok:

Of course it is safe to visit Pattaya. Any flooding that occurs there is due to heavy rain and very short lived. Bangkok flooding is caused by a river overflowing. Safe means not getting wasted on alcohol and doing something stupid. Don't walk around with a lot of gold chains on late at night, especially Beach Road. Don't pick up any ladyboys because they will probably rob you anyway!

Can you visit Koh Larn - yes. But you do not have much time to see much of anything! Koh Larn ferry leaves from the Bali Hai Pier near the end of Walking Street. The cost of the ferry boat ride is 30 baht. Get the ticket inside the building at the ticket office. Do not buy tickets from touts outside the building or you will pay more! You will probably waste at least a half day to full day at Koh Larn. For a hotel in Pattaya choose one not too far from Pattaya Sai Song or Beach Road. That way you can walk to many things like malls, street vendors, nightlife, markets, etc. Transportation in Pattaya is 10 baht in the city area.

    Map of Pattaya City:

Bell Travel, Bus 389 and taxis can take you to Pattaya. Other posts on Pattaya on this forum with more detailed information.

    Have fun.
