Quick travel from Tallinn airport to Parnu

by rigdenj Online Now May 7, 2009 at 5:07 PM

What is the quickest way for a youth to get from Tallinn airport, arriving on an international flight at 7:20pm, to Parnu City? Student must be in Parnu opera theatre by 10pm same day. Date in question is June 1st, 2009.

Are there buses that leave directly from Tallinn airport to go to the Parnu airport or a bus station in Parnu? Would catching such a bus be possible, time wise, as the youth will have to go through Customs at the airport?

How much would a taxi cost to go that distance - from Tallinn airport to Parnu theatre? What companies would be best for this?

Is the drive relatively uncomplicated if the best option is to rent a car at the airport and drive to Parnu?

The quickest way would be a rental car. It is not complicated to drive from Tallinn to Pärnu.
Where does the person in question flying in from? Maybe (s)he doesn't have to go through customs. Anyway, buses to Pärnu depart from Central Bus Station in Tallinn. First he has to take bus number 2 from airport to the bus station, direction Reisisadam, departing 19:43, taking 8 minutes to Central Bus Station. Check www.bussireisid.ee for buses to Pärnu, the site didn't work when I tried to search for departures.
Taxi to Pärnu would cost about 100 €.

    Here's the bus schedule: bussireisid.ee/index.html?ME...
The bus to Pärnu departs from Tallinn at 8 pm which means the traveller must catch the 19:43 city bus from the airport. By this bus he'll make it easily to Pärnu theatre by 10 pm.

As an alternative, the flight from London to Tallinn stops in Riga. Would it be quicker to take a bus from Riga to Parnu directly rather than finishing the flight into Tallinn first? Flight cost is only a minimal difference, so if passenger is able to get off the plane in Riga and take a bus that runs that direction that might save time.

What busline would travel that route? What would a taxi cost to go that 160km and would they, where it crosses borders? Are there any tips about taking taxis either from Tallinn to Parnu or Riga to Parnu? Is there a train route that might run that direction as well - or shuttle bus from the airport? What restrictions would a Canadian student have on this route?

Yes, it would definitely be quicker to take a bus from Riga to Pärnu. There's an Eurolines bus departing from Riga Airport at 17:30 and arriving in Pärnu at 21.05. Can he make it to that bus? http://www.eurolines.ee/node/491
A taxi would cost about 100 €, but I'm not sure if they cross the border.
There's no rail connection between Riga and Pärnu.
There are no restrictions for a Canadian student on this route. There's no passport control in the border of Latvia and Estonia.
