My family, my mom, sister, husband, & 3 children (16, 8, & 7) will be visiting Germany sometime this spring for the wedding of a family friend. None of us have ever been to Europe and we decided to see a little while we are there. I think we have decided to fly into Paris and then take a train to Germany. I have been reading travel guides and scouring TripAdvisor and other websites for all kinds of information, including looking for a hotel or bed & breakfast. Any recommendations for a family friendly place that won't completely break the bank and would be in walking distance to many of the attractions? I know I will be back with more questions but I guess finding a great place to stay is a good start. Thanks! Megan
In Paris, try to stay in the center of town. It is arranged in districts they call arrondissements and they are numbered from 1 to 20. The very center ones are 01, 04, 05, 06 and 07. When you look for hotels, check the postal code. The last two digits of the postal code are the district/arrondissement so you are looking for hotels in postal codes numbered 75001, 75004, 75005, 75006 and 75007. Hotels come in all prices in all districts so you can look for something in your price range in the center. You'll get better hotel suggestions if you can give a ball park estimate of your nightly budget for hotels and how many rooms you may need. I'm thinking you may want three rooms or two rooms with one being a suite, but only you know what you need. I've written several hotel recommendations at Paris Hotel Tips by Beausoleil Many other VTers have also recommended hotels. Type Paris into the VT Search Window above and then click on the Hotels and Accommodations link for a lot of recommendations. We have used http://www.booking.com often and always been happy with the result. They have reliable photos, lots of reviews and you don't have to pay until you get to the hotel. You may want to check that too. You can click on the names of the people who answer you here and that will take you to their Home Page. Click on their Travel Pages and then on Paris to see what has already been written. There are photos, things to do, hotels, restaurants, transportation tips and links to other helpful web sites. It's a very useful feature of Virtual Tourist and also lots of fun. Good luck with your planning and have a great trip.

Hello ! If you have a little time in Paris, I advice you to go to Montparnasse Tower. It is the most beautiful view of Paris and you can even see the Eiffel Tower from there ! Moreover, it is located in a great area of Paris where you can eat delicious "crêpes bretonnes" ;) This is the facebook page of the tower ; you should take a look ! facebook.com/MontparnasseTow... Have a nice trip, I hope you will enjoy your stay !

Excellent suggestion MaudM. It's one of our favorite views! The best part is when you are on Montparnasse Tower, you can't see it. ;^)
