Paris early Nov to early Dec

by capgirgen Online Now May 29, 2012 at 6:36 PM

Need information on the following topics: 1. Passe Navigo Decouverte--pros and cons. We will be arriving at CDG airport on Wednessday. We will also go to Versailles on Friday of the same week. Also planning on going to Chantilly, Vaux-le-Vicomte, Chartres, Reims, Fontainebleau during the month. Is it to our advantage to purchase the Passe or not? 2. Vegetarian restaurants--especially those with a "French" menu 3. Concerts--interested in popular artists, organ concerts, choral, chamber music, etc. 4. Festivals/events--any special holidays? The SPECTACLE E'QUESTRE DE NOEL in Chantilly; the Christmas decorations at Vaux-le-Vicomte; the Beaujolais Nouveau!!; 5. Special museum exhibits that one should not miss? 6. Wine tasting opportunities/classes, the Beaujolais Nouveau; and the salon des Vins de Vignerons Independents--do or don't do? 7. Weather and what to wear!!! 8. Le-Lapin-Agile or the Moulin Rouge or ??? for a night on the town. Thanks! Your suggestions and help is appreciated. capgirgen

lots of good questions, will try to answer from the local point of view. 1) the navigo decouverte is from monday to sunday. weekly pass with a photo id. wed wont do it, better get the carnet of 10 tickets for about 12,70€ prices do change more often than ever here. From airport is out of Paris so the RER train B takes you into Paris for about 9 euros nowdays. you can check on www.ratp.fr official transport paris 2 the navigo is only for Paris for the week as above. For the other cities is the train and bus combination like to go to Vaux-le-Vicomte all from Paris train station, the site for schedules and prices is www.voyages-sncf.com 3) that information is best to look up the tourist offices as to what is available on the dates you are traveling, google tourism than town name for them 4) again plenty in those times too numerous to mention unless you have a specific like the horse show at the musée vivant du cheval in Chantilly here is the site in French but tells the dates and time la nuit de noêl wonderful horse show recommended museevivantducheval.fr/fr/sp... beaujolais nouveau is on Nov 15 2012 vaux-le-vicomte.com/en/visit... above is Christmas info when available at VlV 5) see the tourist office for dates you are in and whats available , it can change. 6) Salon des vins de vignerons independants I visited every year it grew so large that from porte de champerret it has move to the porte de versailles at paris expo, you find info here www.vigneron-independant.com/auxsalons there is no dont all dos here, very nice. The tastings you again should contact the tourist office to see whats available or the beaujolais nouveau king Georges Dubouef at le hameau du vin here www.hameauduvin.com 7) casual, nice comfortable walking outfits good walker, sweaters, jacket depends from how accoustome to cool weather but nice. hard to estimate weather take a look at www.wunderground.com ,nice period but it has snow too. 8) for me Le Lapin Agile is more typical still....Moulin Rouge is too touristic. its a choice Hope it helps your planning
