Hi all, if we take the RER B line into Paris from CDG,how then do we get to our hotel du Lion,1 Avenue du General Leclerc. Thankyou Carol
Hi Carol, I realize you are assimilating a lot of information, but in beausoliel response to your previous question "You can easily take the RER B line directly from CDG to Denfert-Rochereau" keeps as simple as it is. AT CDG you buy a ticket at the machine above the RER B line (around 8? euros), take the escalator down to the train towards Paris (it should be the only direction), get on the train (keep your ticket the entire journey)....stay on the RER B line until you get to stop Denfert-Rochereau...get off the train, head upstairs until you are out of the metro. The looks to be about a block North of the station, but once outside you should politely ask someone if they know where the hotel is. Karl

Correct Karl. When summa gets out of the Denfert-Rochereau station, she should walk straight ahead one block and the hotel is on the corner on her left. She may be able to see it from the station if the trees are not in leaf. There is a very large hotel sign about halfway up the building. Once she crosses the traffic island, she'll be able to see the hotel sign. summa, just remember that your RER stop is on the other side of Paris so everyone else will probably get off at Chatelet-les-Halles or St. Michel-Notre Dame. Just sit still and stay on the train. The Port Royal station is the one before yours so when you see Port Royal, it's time to think about getting off. Denfert-Rochereau is next and that's you. Have fun.

Good advice from both Karl and Beausoleil. It's really easy, about a five minute walk. The divided street is Ave Rene Coty, you will see a kiosk there where they sell newspapers. Just keep going, passing Paul's Boulangerie, until you reach Cafe Indiana. Turn left. The entrance to the hotel is immediately next door to Indiana. If you find yourself in front of McDonalds, you have walked too far. The entrance is a small door and could be unnoticeable. There is an elevator at the Denfert Rochereau station so you don't have to worry about dragging you luggage up flights of stairs. I would like to have your opinion on the hotel after your stay as I am thinking that may be where I will tell my sister to stay when she is in Paris next year. May I also recommend Cafe Daguerre for lunch or dinner. It's not beautiful and it's not 5 stars, just a cafe with mostly locals and a few tourists, but I have never had a bad meal there. Many of the servers speak English.

ForestQueen, have you been to the Paul's boulangerie near Denfert-Rochereau? We love the one at the corner of rue de Buci and rue de Seine but haven't much cared for the others we've visited. We noted they are all over the place now and wondered how the new ones compare. You could do field research!

Beausoleil, I ventured into the Paul at Denfert for the first time about a month ago because I wanted a macaroon and didn't feel like going over to the 7th to Gregory's (his are my favorite). Since then I have tried them in every flavor at Paul's and I have to say that, although they are not of the same quality as Gregory or Hermes, etc., I really liked the chocolate. It is very chewy around the edges which I like a lot. I have also tried the escargot au raisin which was delicious and a bread pudding type thing made from left over brioche. That was good too, but would have liked a little bourbon sprinkled on it. Have only been to one other Paul's and that was a tea room on rue de Buci. I don't think I was impressed at the time although the ambiance was quite charming.

The one on rue de Buci must be the same one that you went to.

Yes, we love the Paul's on rue de Buci. There is one particularly grumpy waitress who is our favorite. It makes our day when we can get her to smile. When we order, I just let her choose my pastry and she's always picked something I love. It's a funny place but the food is good. The other's have lacked a certain ambience. There is one in the Toulouse Airport that is a lifesaver for early flights but simply not as good. Too much like a chain, but then I see Paul's has become a chain. Still, at least at rue de Buci, their hot chocolate is to die for. It's the only place I order hot chocolate instead of coffee. My husband doesn't drink coffee so he's the chocolate expert!

the problem with Paul is that he is everywhere now, even in Aventura Mall, Aventura ,South Florida lol!!! My family there tells me all the time how they had a great French, and I gave them another friend of ours from Avignon that has a shop in FT Lauderdale,Fl Too many and so many good ones is hard to choose. Unesco heritage inmaterial in gastronomy and wines, the first and only so far, France ::) I am in the area so went back to Paris again today with the gang ,totally ruined between Virgin and coffee/sweets at Fouquet's lol!!! then this is Paris ::)
