Parisian Makeover

by SweetLouise Online Now Oct 30, 2003 at 7:19 AM

Bonjour! Our family is visiting Paris for the first time the week between Christmas and New Year's. My daughter, who is 18, and I are in awe of French women's chic and sense of style. We would like to get our hair cut and have our makeup done while there. Can anyone recommend good places for this that are not terribly expensive, perhaps in the100 range for each of us? Also, we would love to know of some places to shop for great bargains on clothes, purses, shoes, etc. Merci!

Hello, The sales in France start after the 1st of January. You do not mention where you are from but I guess that the best thing for you will be to go to the GALERIES LAFAYETTE and PRINTEMPS... these are THE French most complete stores, that are not only gorgeous but also carrying EVERYTHING (like a mall). www.galerieslafayette.com www.printemps.com And for your haircut try http://www.biguine.com/ But there are so many... Why don't you visit this web site ? http://www.paris.fr/ Have a great trip to Paris...

How wonderful for you and your daughter to be making this trip. You will have a fantastic time! I just returned last night from Paris. I received the best haircut that I have had in my life while I was there. I got it at Nauiastis near Raspare Blvd. near where we were staying at the Lutetia on the left bank. It was a couple of blocks from the hotel. The little girl that cut it was very sweet and had 7 years experience. Her name was Lutitia. This area of the city is very exclusive/expensive, so you you may prefer to go to the same salon in Galleries Laffayette at 40 Boulevard Haussman. The prices may be better there for the same quality of work. You and your daughter would love it there. It is a huge one building several story mall. The prices are more affordable and the fashion is astounding. While we were there, a true Parisian fashion show was going on. What a great trip for a mother and daughter. Have fun. and feel free to ask if you have any other questions about Paris. Lulie Cosby
