arriving airport 10.00 p.m best transportation to city
I had a stopover in Panama that is looking likely to be a stay for a week due to unforeseen circumstances.
I would like to ask a few questions as this a new country for me :)
1. Are there any recommended places to stay in the city? (like areas), near attractions, Bars.Restaurants?
2. Is it safe enough to walk around alone?
3. How much would travel, food and beverages cost whilst there, so I know how much money to take.
4. I read that they trade in USD, is this the case?
5. Would it be worth visiting beaches by leaving the city for a few days, if so, where are the good beaches at?
6. Any must see attractions or cool things to do?
7. Any places to meet people as a lonely traveller out on a limb... :( (pwaa pwaaa pwaaaa)
Thanks for any suggestions, I appreciate it greatly.
I want to purchase several tshirts from bars and other places in panama city. Its for a friends birthday who lived there but has not been back in years. Ebay just has the country flag or outline, Any help will be appreciated.
I would like to know what hotels are near the Isla flamenco so that I can make my reservations right away
I will be in Panama City for about a week and would like to take a Canal cruise.
Also any flights between Panama City and Liberia, Costa Rica?
If not how are the buses?
Any helps and hints would be appreciated.
I'm going back from Cuba soon through Panama city airport. I'll arrive to Panama on a Tuesday at 6.24PM, and my flight takes off at 11.52PM. Therefore I was wondering if that would leave me enough time to get out of the airport and have a look. I'd love to see the canal and a bit of Panama city, which I heard is beautiful.
Another question: as a French citizen am I required to have a visa or something to get out?
Thank you ;)
Hi looking for a hair salon for keratin treatment in Panama City. Any recommendations? Approximate cost?
Wanting to rent a car at main airport. Want to use my USD gold visa to cover liability. Only want basic coverage. My bank says card will do. Does anyone know the exact rules for Panama car insurance. Nn to know what to expect, speak a little Spanish but don't want to pay USD26 for insurance. Thx.
We are renting a car at the pty airport and driving to the bridge of the Americas. How difficult is that route?
Early next year I would like a change for 2-4 weeks.Instead of beach why not check out a city, say, Panama City, Panama. It seems to have a lot to interest me besides the good weather at that time. How long should I stay ? What might be too long , or too short????????? There are malls, casinos, places of historical interest etc. What area recommended? San Francisco ? Cangrejo or where else? We are 2 active Jubilados and like to explore. What places to stay in ??? All advice very welcome. Patrick
I am going to be traveling on January 2015 to Panama, and I need to get a transfer from Tocumen to Riu Playa Blanca? any suggestion!
I am looking for a simpler and most cost effective way to get to city from International Airport in Panama City.
It seems that taxi cost is $30+
Is there no Shuttle or a bus or something ? I have no appreciable luggage. (Just a cabin bag)
A day stop (14 hrs.) seems to long to sit around at the Airport and near $60 round trip to town sounds to be bit much. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thannks.
I am thinking about traveling to Panama for a few days while in Costa Rica and will fly out of San Jose. Where is a good area to stay for a few days that will give me access for touring the canal and still experience some of the night life?
I may have forgotten my cell phone in a cab, is there a taxi company that I could get ahold of to ask if it was found or is it hopeless?
We will be touring with the Caravan tour company. We will be arriving in the city a few days
earlier than the start of the tour. What would you suggest we see in Panama city itself?
We are going to the Canal and other sites so I do not want to revisit those places.
I had thought about the hop on hop off tour by Viator...have you experience with that group? Or can you suggestion some other places we can visit independently?
Appreciate all suggestions...We do not speak Spanish. Regards, Evelyn
Where can you buy tennis accessories (balls, strings, grips) in quantity? John
My and my fiancé are stating in panama for 3 ngts in October as part of our honeymoon. I've been reading up on panama so much that I'm now confused of where to stay?!! Do we stay in a flashy hotel in the business district or do we stay in Casco viejo with historical surroundings? We want a good location that has bars, restaurants and is close to the main sites ie. the canal, plaza da francia, plaza de Bolivia, etc. Can anyone recommend?
I have been looking around at some booking sites (and on VT) but can't really find what I'm looking for. And I don't really know which area is good to stay in. What about Casco Viejo and Bellavista?
Can anyone recommend a nice budget accommodation in Panama City?
I don't want to stay in a dorm, and I don't want to stay at a party hostel. I prefer not to pay more than $30 for a single room but if it is worth it I can pay a bit more.
I'm staying in Panama for week and a half. Do
you suggest renting a car?
flying into Tocumen Panama at 11 am .. and cannot believe they only have taxis to the city.. I heard there was a bus close by but you need to get a token as the driver downs take cash....and they don't sell them at the airport...seems like it s geared to make it expensive for the tourist to get out of the airport.. however I heard there is a mall nearby in walking distance from the airport where I might buy a token to get on the bus.....Does anybody have any info on that? thanks
I wondered if there were a place close( say 2 hours or so by bus) from panama City where I could go back and forth in a day just to taste local flavor and see a bit of the country from a bus.... I get into Panama city early on a FRiday and leave Saturday afternoon... I can check out the city at night, and the second day, just though I d hop on one of their famous buses for a few hours to get to see the lay of the land... where would someone recommend that's typical, local colour and still leaves me enough time to get there, have a meal and come back in a space of maybe 6 or 7 hours ?
We are arriving in Panama city for the first time and will be staying there for 1 night and then going on to Playa Coronado for the rest of our vacation. We have heard horror stories about driving in Panama, what are our best modes of transportation?
What are some good and inexpensive places to eat in panama city?
Looking for a good neighborhood to stay for 3-5 nights in Panama City. Will be traveling with only my boyfriend and we'd like to be around places that have plenty of restaurants, bars, and cafes for walking around at night and within taxi-distance to other sights/cultural activities in the city. From my research so far, El Cangrejo and Bellavista seem to be the most-trodden neighborhoods that meet my criteria but I'd prefer something less touristy. Casco Viejo sounds wonderful and much more to my liking but I'm reading mixed reviews around whether or not there's enough nightlife. Don't need big loud clubs but just would love to be able to end our late nights with drinks and good food near wherever we stay - so my question is should which of these (or any other) neighborhoods would be best? Thanks!
Hi there. I will be visiting Panama City in a few weeks and am trying to determine the best way to visit the canal beyond just a visit to the Miraflores Locks.
Is it worth it to take a boat that will do a partial transit of the canal? Should I head to the Gatun Locks?
I have three days in Panama City.
Taxi from Panama City to Gamboa Rainforest Resort
Hi. Wondering about taxi fare and how easy (or hard) it is to get taxi to go back to the city. Thanks so much.
We will be in Panama City next month for a conference but hope to take the kids somewhere close by for a couple of days away from the city(16 and 17 yrs). We have looked into Isla Contadora and Isla Grande - any suggestions? Ideally we will be somewhere quiet with great beaches, the kids would be happy surfing or snorkelling. Prefer to stay away from resorts and happy to have something very basic. Thanks
Hi, I'd like to know if anyone could advise me on where I should go to spend a day out in the islands around Panama City... Preferably quite cheap! Thanks a lot,
How is the drive from Panama city from Bocos or is it not recommended?
I can also fly and that will be fine. However, once I get to Bocos is it easy to get around to go explore other areas.
For example, how easy is it go get from the Pacific to the Carribean side if you wanted to?
Late planning on this trip so trying to get a general plan of a attack.
So do I go to Panama first or Gutemala first and then to Panama
