Hello. Will be spending 1.5 days in Joshua Tree NP and perhaps spending the night in Palm Springs... looking for advice on what to do and see, and if Palm Springs is a nice place to spend the night....Thanks!

Given the limited time, I would recommend the following: In JTNM, visit Cottonwodd Spring (about 6 or 7 miles off the 10 Fwy) and take any of the trailheads and hike amongst the boulders. It is my favorite area in the park and very surreal and prehistoric looking. Or, you can just drive the park. While in Palm Springs, take the aerial tram to the peak of Mt. San Jacinto. The drop-off from the peak to the valley floor in PS is the steepest on the North American Continent. Or, you could stop in Indio and visit Shields Date Farm, where you can watch the never ending, looped film" Sex Life of a Date," which has been running continuously since the 1930's. Very quirky. Enjoy.
