    • Geli Dolls /Munecas Geli

Mexico City Apr 14, 2014 at 12:33 PM

I currently live in NY, but was looking for someone who is traveling to Mexico City.

My sister in law bought me a beautiful doll last year when she was on vacation (they are called Munecas Geli) and they only sell them in Mexico City. They are 100% vinyl and have long realistic eyelashes. From what i have researched online, they are sold in the stores Sanborn & Liverpool (I'm not sure if she got them there as well). Anyways, my niece's birthday is coming up, and I would love to get her a Geli doll. The problem I am having is that shipping takes too long from Mexico (about a month). I was wondering if anyone out there is willing to help me by bringing one back to the US (I'll pay for shipping from your state to mine). Does anyone have a clue about these dolls? Or is anyone out there who is traveling now or soon willing to help me? Please email me at

Planning summer travel to Mexico City from McAllen via Monterrey-Saltillo-Matehuala-San Luis Potosi-Querétero, etc., I've driven McAllen-Monterrey plenty, but haven't Monterrey-Querétaro, in a few years. Any info on those who have would be greatly appreciated. General "safety" (I'm not one of those super "paranoid" to travel to Mexico, just take my precautions as I do when I travel anywhere), road quality, clean rest/gas stops, etc. Many thanks!

Cheap place to stay on South end of beach

      Tulum Apr 8, 2014 at 12:31 PM

Does anyone know of good place to stay on South end of beach close to Sian Ka'an reserve? We stayed at Rancho San Eric last year and loved it but it is $210/nt. we really just need privacy and a place to sleep. Pretty easy going. Thought about staying with "naked beach guy" on the reserve but I think that's a little much for me.

by bingdan Online Now Feb 15, 2010 at 9:43 PM

I just booked a tour starting from 6 am from San cristobal to Palenque. It will take me to Agua Azul Cascades,Misol-Ha Cascade, and Palenque Ruins. However, i am still thinking, if it is worth to just spend one day in Palenque and not doing the other two stuff.
My situation is, I only have two days in Chiapas. I decided to go to canion sumidero on the first day. So basicaly i only have the second day for Palenque. I will take the five oclock bus to cancun from Palenque.
I do want to see more stuff in Mexico because i am from Asia and everything will be so different from where I live...But if the other two places are not that great, I think i will be willing to drop them. But i do need some advice. Thanks a lot!!

Hay un autobus desde Palenque a Merida, y despues tendria que tomarme otro de Merida a Chichen Itza, pero no es muy conveniente que digamos. ?Que me recomiendan? Mil gracias?

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to get from Palenque to Chichen Itza by overnight bus. It doesn't look like has any way of getting there directly. It looks like I could take an overnight bus Palenque/Merida and then take a super-early bus Merida-Chichen Itza, but that's really inconvenient. There's an ADO leaving Palenque at 10pm getting to Merida at 6am, for example. Any better ideas?

      Gracias / Thanks!

Here's my situation: I already have flight & hotel reservations plus a prepared itinerary to go around the Yucatan ruins within 5 days this May. We will be based at Merida. But going over some back issues of National Geographic, I noticed that the Palenque ruins were featured more often and this made me rethink my travel plans. Is Palenque really that different and interesting enough to be worth the extra cost, time and distance after one has seen the ruins of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Ek Balam? Thanks for your comments.

We are planning a trip to Chiapas in mid-November. We are flying in to Tuxtla Gutierrez and then bussin to San Cristobel de las Casas, then Palenque, then Campeche and finally to Cancun from whence we shall fly back home. I understand that November is at the end of the rainy season in Chiapas and I have read about mudslides in the past that have made roads impassable from San Cristobel to Palenque. Is this the kind of hazzard we should expect in November or was it just a particularly bad year?

    • Oaxaca - Palenque

by bcmar Online Now Mar 28, 2007 at 5:51 AM

I've booked flights for Mexico very last minute (from Scotland) and have less than a week to do research. Arriving at Mexico D.F. going to spend a few days then possibly hire a car, drive to Oaxaca down the non toll road to enjoy a contrast and see thigns a little off the beaten track.

After a few days in Oaxaca area am thinking of continuing to Palenque. Can't really find much info about the road - how long does it take driving in a relaxed way, and what exactly is the risk of robbery en-route which I seem to read about but am not convinced is too great a risk ?

Partner and I are very fluent in Spanish, and we are considering using bus in place of hire car but don't want long journeys via bus. Is it better to perhaps get bus to Oaxaca and fly to Palenque or what ? Any suggestions most welcome - I'm doing non stop reading and research at the moment to get the most out of our trip next week.
