We have bought flight tickets to Manila, leaving Christmas Day and will stay for two weeks. Our plan is to stay two days in Manila and then fly to Puerto Princesa on Palawan.
We have read all previous posts, but still have a couple of questions regarding Palawan and where to stay.
1. We plan to go to El Nida area and stay there. Should we stay in central El Nida to have close to the boats to Bacuit archipelago or should we choose to stay at one of the braches close to El Nido?
2. Which of the beaches close to El Nido is the most beautiful one? Lonely Planet lists Palabayan and Las Cabanas
3. Or should we stay on one of the archipelago islands? We have been recommended Miniloc, but the only hotel we find there to book online is Miniloc Island Resort, which is a bit more expensive than what we have planned to pay. Can someone recommend a hotel for about $120 on Miniloc? Or should we opt for another island?
Thanks from Lena
Ive seen lots of rumors from a few years ago in different forums about a new service from Brooke's Point to Malaysia... yet cannot find anything about it. Anyone that has been around and confirm if this service ever came to exist or when is planning to open?
There are four of us going to Palawan in late April. We will be there for 5 nights and are planning on flying into El Nido and spending all of our time in that area. What are islands and beaches that can't be missed in the Bacuit Archipelago? I think we would like to spend 2 days relaxing on the beaches, and three days exploring a few islands.
Other ideas were to fly into Puerto Princessa and spend the night in Sabang to see the underground river and then head up to El Nido, but I know that one day would be all driving.
Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.
My wife and I are planning on travelling to Palawan for anywhere between 2-5 months in late 2015 (depending on the weather and visa requirements). We've got a winter to spend and we love sandy beaches and clear waters. Where would you suggest staying for this period of time? We'd like to have the opportunity of nearby island hopping, excursions to beautiful beaches etc. What is a good way to find an apartment for long term rent? Thank in advance for the help!!
What are data plan options in Palawan? Traveling there soon and need minimal internet, not finding any good info! Thanks!!!
Hey all, we are backpackers traveling to Palawan in late Jan. We land in the eve and are looking for a good place for 2 nights. Preferably a place with pool. We will spend up to $50ish per nite because we want comfort after a 27hr flight. (after that we will be back to backpacker budget) It would be ideal to find something in walking distance or bicycle to restaurants, beaches, etc.
Can anyone help out with recommendations.
Thanks SO much :)
I'm looking to travel to palawan for around 8 days I've heard about El Nido and plan to go there for a couple of days, but where else is good to stay I don't want to go any further north than El Nido, Is Puerto princesa worth staying in, or can anyone recommend somewhere near Puerto Princesa? Many thanks
Hi, we are a couple arriving in Manila in December for a 7 days of vacation. We would like to go to Palawan but I read that the best of the island is el nido which is far away from puerto princesa. Is There a flight from Manila to el nido? Does the island offer good attractions (excursions, good beaches, ecc) also in the rest of the island? How can we move on the island? As alternative we are thinking to go to Coron with a flight. What do you suggest to us? Please HELP us? We are very busy!!!
Where is a good place to stay in El Nido? We have a budget of under $200 per night. We don't want anything too remote but close to the city and good restaurants? The hotel should be decent as well. Any suggestions? We looked into trip advisor but hard to say which is a good stay. Please help! Thanks!
My husband and I are booked to go to the Philippines in April. We are planning to stay in El Nido or Puerto Princesa? Which one would you guys recommend? We plan to stay there for approximately 4 nights before heading to Boracay.
Are there tour groups there that do last minute trips? Or should we prebook? Also, if we decide not to join a tour until we get there... how easy is it to get a cab to our hotel?
Hi all! I wish to visit Palawan in October and wondering if someone can give me tips on how I will be able to visit three places - Puerto Princesa, El Nido and Coron. I will be coming from Manila, will be doing a lot of diving and plan to be in Palawan for maybe 7 days. I wish to know the way around, how to jump from Coron-El Nido-Puerto Princesa. I was thinking of flying to Coron from Manila and go my way down to PP. Any advice on transportation will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
How difficult is it to travel within Palawan? I will be staying on Busuanga to dive for a few days but would like to see other parts of the Island. Could I visit Puerto Princesa in 1 day from Busuanga or would more time be required?
I am planning a month vacation (february 2015) in the Philippines (first time there) with my girlfriend. However I am much in doubt about how badlky damaged the northern part of Palawan and Bohol are after the typhoon last year in 2013. Could anyone advise me if these areas should be avoided - or other areas that might be severely damaged after the typhoon ?
Thanks in advance!
hi guys, how's the weather in palawan right now? we've booked our tao expedition trip but received notice that it will be cancelled due to the really bad weather and higher chance of having a typhoon. we would still like to continue with the trip but we'll be making arrangements on our own instead. We will be heading to coron and el nido. thanks in advance for your kind input. =)
Hi, finally I have zeroed in on Philippines for my next vacation. Palawan & Mindanao are the top locations in mind. Can anyone suggest me some tips for the journey? Or is there anyone local who can help me out?
Hi there...anyone interested on joining the Tao Expedition Open Group from December 10 to 14?...not sure yet in which way (El Nido - Coron or Coron - El Nido)...kinda like the second one better but really doesn't matter...either way works for me ;-)
Hoping some of you are interested so we could make a group before arriving there and maybe even get a Private Expedition for the same price.
We are trying to organise a family holiday to Palawan and have been looking some of the pre booked tours. The plus side with the tours is everything is arranged, but then I am worried we might miss out on other sights and tours sticking to the schedule. Would it be better/cheaper to just try and base ourselves somewhere and then look at what tours/outings we can organise ourselves?
Hi, My husband and I are visiting Borneo and of August/beginning of September and are planning on taking the ferry from Kudat to Brooke's Point on Palawan. Do you think this will be safe due to the weather, as I understand this will be during rainy/monsoon season? Does anyone know if the ferry runs during the rainy season, or if they suspend it? Thank you.
my bestfriend and i were planning to go to pps and el nido on the last week of june.. do you think the weather would be fine and it would not interrupt our island hopping?
i'm going to Philippines from Alberta Canada for 2 1/2mos from May13th, first time. I'd like to meet a pleasant lady to guide and spend time with. I'm a divorced guy and will look after costs, but don't want a drinker/smoker.
I've studied Cultural Anthropology and enjoy learning local customs. Scuba diving and island hopping...*fun.
I'd like to know the best way to find a cheerful companion.
i'll be travelling alone in palawan on april 30th. anyone here who's going there too
Hello, my boyfriend and I are travelling to Palawan in mid-May, flying into Puerto Princesa and out of El Nido. We only have 8 nights there so to avoid the stress of trying to fit in too many different places, we need to make the decision: 3 nights in Puerto Princesa inc. day trips to Honda Bay and the Underground River or head straight on up to Port Barton and stay there for 3 night (perhaps camping for a couple at Thelma and Toby's).
What we want out of this holiday is a bit of beauty, relaxation and a dose of adventure... Port Barton seems to offer that but I can't tell whether it's foolish to miss out seeing some of the island's biggest attractions in favour of it.
Any insights would be very happily appreciated!
Hi, im planning a trip with my family to visit puerto princesa and el nido in mid october and I was just wondering what theweather would be like. I keep hearing ddifferent things from friends. Some say it should be fine others say that it will most likely be rainy. It seems like such a waste to go if it will be raining. What months are the best time to travel there?
Unfortunately, July is the only time my husband and I are able to travel this year and we are thinking to go to the Philippines, particularly Palawan / Coron. I hate to bother you all with the typical question.. but wondering how bad does it typically rain... all day for weeks or just a couple hours a day.. Any thoughts/ tips would be appreciated! thanks!
Any way to get cheaper room rates than rack rate at the El Nido Resorts in Palawan?
My partner and I are planning to go to Palawan next month.
Jan 23: Manila
Jan 24: Manila-Puerto Princesa by air, stay overnight at Puerto Princesa
Jan 25: Port Barton
Jan 26: Port Barton (or Puerto Princesa?) to El Nido by bus
Jan 27-28: El Nido tour
Jan 29: El Nido to Coron by boat
Jan 30: Coron tour
Jan 31: Coron to Manila
We both are not super active persons, just want to enjoy the beautiful scenery, some relaxing moments on the beach, maybe trying out the diving once or twice...We wonder whether this schedule is too tight? Shall we only choose either El Nido or Coron, not both? Also we heard that Coron was affected by the typhoon before. Not sure whether we should go there. If you are familiar with the area, please give us some advice.
Thank you very much.
My partner,16 week old baby and I are going to Palawan, porta princess in December. Is it recommended and do we need immunization?
We have a group of 12 planning to head to Palawan early January. I heard that travel is not recommended due to the typhoon? Any updates or recommendations?
Hi. I booked a flight to Palawan on July 2014. I know it is in the middle of the rainy season but that's only the available date. Is it safe to travel there?
