I think bus to Klaipeda and then to Palanga is reasonable - look here: kaunasair.lt/index.php?lang=... Taxi rate is around 2.2 Lt/km (around 0.6 EUR/km). First, you have to find driver willing to go so far from Kaunas, then you might need to pay car travel both ways. Distance is around 260 km.

Kaunas to Palanga is too far and expensive for Taxi. Take a bus from Kaunas Bus Station to Klaipeda Bus Station. Just outside the Klaipeda Bus Station are several places where mini buses go from. You can get a mini bus to Palanga. It is also possible to fly into/out of the Airport at Palanga on Air Baltic, SAS, and I think a couple more airlines. I took a SAS flight from Palanga to Copenhagen a few years ago.

I forgot to mention. In order to get from Airport to Bus Station (Kauno Oro Uostas to Autobus Stotis) take #29 bus from Airport. Bus Stops at Bus Station and train Station(Gelezinkelio Stotis) Both are close together. # 29 starts at 04:58 and goes at least one or 2 per hour until 22:30. You can look at http://www.marsrutai.info/kaunas. Klik on language of choice. Cost is about 2 LTL per person I think. Been a few years so I am sure it is about that by now. Used to be less than 1 LTL.

hello Bus 29 goes from airport to city center every 30-40min and single bus ticket costs 2 Lt for grown-up and 1 Lt for child. But you needn't going to bus or train station in Kaunas. There are direct busses from airport to Klaipeda. And from Klaipeda to Palanga microbusses go every 20min. or so. Remi: It has been a few years since I traveled through Kaunas Airport. In 2007 there was no direct bus to Klaipeda. How often does that bus go now ??

Remi,I looked up the Bus you suggested. It does not go to the Klaipeda Bus Station, but it stops only at the Akropolis Shopping Mall which is 2 - 3 Km south of the Bus Station. They would have to go out on Taikos and take a Municipal bus north to the AutoBus Stotis. I have ridden both the Municipal buses and minibuses on that route and one cannot take any luggage on the minibuses so they must use larger Municipal buses. I still suggest they use the bus from the Kaunas bus station which will get them to the Klaipeda Bus Station.

I agree with other opinions, that direct buss to Klaipeda will be the best thing. Then from Klaipeda buss station you can take taxi to Palanga exact adress, so you don't need to walk with your bags in Palanga trying to find your hotel. From Klaipeda to Palanga you will pay aprox 50 Litas (15 euro) by taxi, you will be more comfortable than taking minivan (usually full on summer time).
