I am planning a trip from Karachi to Murree and Naran between 13/14 Aug to 21/22 August. I am with my wife and 2 kids of 3 and 8 years. Plan is to take flight from Karachi to Islamabad. The rest of the plan is not clear as I have just started researching. Could someone please advise on (a) what are the places / areas we should include in our tour for sightseeing with kids, (b) suggested route and transportation options / costs from Islamabd to all destinations, © is it best to book hotels in advance or upon arrival, and what are the expected per night hotel rates at these places for an average hotel / apartment and any suggestion of hotels, and how much approximate budget is enough for the period. What is the road condition from balakot to Naran as I have travelled last year in June-12, and there were some bridges under construction, and road at few places was damaged

I would love to hear from our VT Pakistan contingent about the safety travelling in their country. I have been planing trip for 3 weeks to Mohenjo Daro and Indus valley also including the Calash tribes valleys in Northern Pakistan.. more or less all is sorted, still waiting on clearance to travel via Chitral up to the valleys. Haven't heard yet from the Ministry of Interia, I am hoping I get the permission... Now looking on few governmental websites, travel to Pakistan is not really recommended unless is essential travel.. I would love to hear your opinion, sometimes the FCO advice is OTT, I know is for my safety, but I hate to cancel my trip if I dont have to..

So I plan to lend in Karachi, make my way to Islamabad, with stops in Mohenjo Daro and few other places (2 weeks) and than fly from Islamabad to Chintral go to Calash valley for the festival, and back to Chintral for flight/roadtrip to Islamabad,than onwards to Lahore, cross into India, by Amritsar few weeks in India and flight home.. I am travelling with my husband and elderly relative.. advice pls many thanks

I am contemplating a trip from Kashgar (Western China) to Islamabad via the Karakoram Highway and have some questions.

(1) Has anyone done this trip recently? Is the highway safe? I heard a few months ago that there has been some violence and rockslides. How have the recent conditions been?

(2) I plan to get my visas in advance. Should I know about any other difficulties getting through the border regions?

(3) Are there bus or train routes from the Karakoram Highway to Islamabad? Are they safe?

I have a potential opportunity to work and live in Islamabad and wanted to get some information about furnished apt/studios (doesn't need to be in the sectors as F6 as I heard its quite expensive there). As a non-Pakistani female, would it be difficult to find a place to rent? Cost of Accomodation / utilities? Food cost? Hi Guys I am planning a trip to Naran, Kaghan etc from Karachi. We are family of 7 adults. We plan to take a Karakoram train from Karachi to Lahore and then may be take a Daewoo bus from Lahore to Islamabad. I have figured out this much however I have no idea how to get from Islamabad onwards. I was hoping the experts here help me plan this trip and recommend places to visit and stay. We plan to do 5 - 6 days trip. I would appreciate your help choosing the best sight seeing that we can do in these days. I have seen pictures of Naran, Kaghan, Shogran, Saif Ul Malook etc but I have no idea how geographically dispersed these are from each other and even if it makes sense to do all these in one trip. Your help figuring this out would be highly appreciated. Note that we have never done this before and probably never will after this trip. So we want to hit the maximum spots possible.
