english books in Pakistan

by bhemak Online Now Feb 9, 2005 at 9:31 PM

Hello, I know that Pakistans business language is English. Does this mean I will be able to find a selection of English language books in the country? Specificially travel guides. Or will I only find the occational book store for expats with a limited selection? Any specific cities, neighborhoods, or stores to check? Thanks.

Depends in which city you are looking for. In Karachi main publishers are OXFORD, PARAMOUNT, SAY PUBLISHINGS, and several imnporters such as LIBERTY, etc. They also have branch offices in all major cities. Some discount/old book stores are also avaialble e.g. in Islamabad's Jinnah Market there is Saeed's Book Store. It depends what you are looking for.

Hi Yes you would be able to find English language books easily in cities but not in towns. In big cities you can also get those latest editions. Yeah travel guides are also available easily. Not only the Lonely Planet but there are also some other alternates available. Good luck ! Regards Najam
