I am travelling from El Nido to Coron by outrigger boat. When I arrive in Coron, I have to get from the pier to my hotel, Al Faro Hotel, located in D'Pearl Bay area, which is about 50 minute drive from Coron town. Since I am not arriving in Coron at an exact time, I can't make arrangements for the hotel van to pick me up. Does anyone know if there are cars or vans for hire in the pier area that I can hire on the spot and will take me to that area ?

Boracay Island Mar 23, 2015 at 12:04 AM

So to get to Boracay, I will have to spend a night or two in Manila. Sounds exciting. I am, however, very uninformed about the area.

Please answer the following questions, if possible and knowledgeable:

      1. I will be flying from Hawaii to Manila. Long-ish flight. Is there a hotel by the airport that is close to the nightlife?
      2. I would like to avoid "girly bars" / prostitutes / ______ / pay for ______. Is this possible?
      3. Only staying 1 - 3 nights. Not looking for wholesome entertainment, but perhaps, a good bar with cheap beer and nice people to talk to.
      4. Any "main drag" like Bangkok's Sukhumvit? If so, what is the name and proximity to the airport?
      5. Any good, budget hotels in this area? Maybe $30 - 60 USD per nite?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

      Oh, yeah.

I am a white American. I have read that the most dangerous part of landing in Manila is negotiating a taxi cab to my hotel. I am well-traveled, but what is the likelihood of robbery if arriving late at night. Mind you, I will get a legitimate taxi with no one in the back seat.

Any and all answers are appreciated. Thank you. :)

I am an American thinking of traveling down south from Manila in the next couple weeks and was wondering if Davao City is currently safe for Americans. • Can anybody please assist in this matter?

Boracay Island Mar 18, 2015 at 7:21 PM

      Hello,

I am a white, 30-something American who is interested in spending the summer months of June - August in Boracay. I am educated, professional, and well-traveled and have spent time in Bangkok, Thailand, Bali, Indonesia, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

I have a few questions to ask regarding travels to and stays in Boracay.

      1. How old are the typical visitors to Boracay who enjoy the nightlife / party scene? Are they in there 20s, or are there people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s there, too? Are there many westerners there?

Bangkok and Bali both had visitors from their teens to their 70s, so that was cool. Is Boracay the same?

      2. Do the women express interest in westerners? If so, what is their motivation?

I enjoyed the attention of members of the opposite sex during my travels throughout Thailand and Indonesia, but they were not exactly after my good looks. In Mexico, it was close to impossible to get the attention of women because I felt that they saw me as a white tourist with limited Spanish speaking skills.

      3. Is the nightlife scene lively 7 nights a week? Or is it only on the weekends? Are some nights better than others?

      4. Is it okay to enjoy alcoholic beverages in the open, or should I keep them concealed? Mind you, I am not going to be stumbling drunk down the beach with a keg, but rather discreet and enjoying a cold beer under the shade of a tree.

      5. Is it possible to rent an apartment there? Or is my only option to check in to a hotel? If apartments are available, what is the weekly / monthly rate in pesos?

      6. Will I get bored if I stay over sixty days?

      7. What is the nightlife like during late May to early August?

I have read that this is the low-season, but a huge part of the reason why I am interested in visiting Boracay is for its nightlife. The only time during the year that I can visit is from late May till early August.

I DO NOT MIND CROWDS. I like a bustling nightlife. Though it is no doubt tuned down during the low-season, I need assistance in answering these questions:

      a. Can I still expect a bustling nightlife?
      b. Will all the bars and clubs be open?
      c. Will there be people on the streets enjoying themselves?
      d. Will there be other westerners there?
      e. Will the bars and clubs stay open late into the night?
      f. Will it be possible to go to the bars and clubs 7 nights a week?

I know this is a lot to ask and some of it even redundant, but I have been involved on numerous forums about foreign destinations in the past and have always enjoyed some of the insight and information that members with intimate knowledge of those locations have provided in the past, and I hope to find some useful information here on this forum.

Again, I would appreciate any and all helpful responses. I hope to hear from you soon.

      Thank you.

by emman.r Online Now May 21, 2014 at 10:13 PM

Hi! Me and my wife are planning on a long drive trip to Pagudpud from manila, our plan is to leave on August 13 and return back to manila on the 17th. I need some tips on where we should stay for the first night either in Vigan or Laoag. I dont think i can drive all the way from manila to Pagudpud so for the first night we plan to spend the night somewhere in between. On our way back were planning on doing the same but in Baguio,. Is the road safe going to baguio from Vigan? Is the road similar from Kennon road? And also, how much budget you think we should allot? we'll be staying in Pagudpud for 2 nights (hannah's beach resort) and try to visit all tourist spots and do most activities around that area (except for the waterfalls & trekking).Do you think P30k max. is a good budget? including petrol. Our vehicle would consume about 9-10km per litre so that leaves us with about 20k budget for accomodation, food, etc.

      thanks! =)

We will be staying at Casa Consuelo from May 3-5, 2014. Is it possible to go around Laoag from 7am to 4pm during our first day? Then the next day, our plan is to explore pagudpud. Lastly we will visit Vigan then we will be heading back to manila around 10pm.

Is this a good itinerary? Any suggestions will be welcome :)

      P.S.

Is it cheaper to hire a tourist guide with a car or to commute during the whole trip?

      Thanks in advance!

      DAY 0 (FRIDAY)
My girlfriend and I are planning to visit Ilocos this summer. We will depart friday night from NAIA terminal 3 at around 1900H and arrive Laoag Airport at around 2030H. Probably will just spend the night in a hotel. Is Hotel Tiffany a good stay?

      DAY 1 (Saturday)
We are planning to tour around good spots near Laoag. Base from what I read, these are:
      - Paoay Church
      - Paoay Lake
      - Malacanang of the North
      - Marcos Mausoleum and Muesum
      - St. Williams Cathedral
      - Sinking Bell Tower
      - Museo Ilocos Norte
      - La Paz Sand Dunes
      - Sta. Monica Church in Sarrat
      - After the tour, we will go to Pagudpud

Could anyone advise me what should be the order in visiting these places so that we could maximize our time. Or could I ask anyone of a contact number of a tour guide? Is the tour also feasible? We are planning to finish the tour at around 5-6PM. Then go to Pagudpud.

      DAY 2 (SUNDAY)
We are planning to stay either in Punta Azul or Hannah Beach Resort. Which is better of the two? We plan to also to tour around near spots in Pagudpud such as:
      - Bangui Windmills
      - Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
      - Patapat Viaduct
      - Kaibigan Falls
      - Timagtang Rock Formation
      - Batay Abot Cave
      - Agua Grande
      - Don Hermanos Islands
We're planning to leave the resort at around 6PM because our flight back to Manila is at 2030H. What about the traffic from Pagudpud to Laoag Airport? Is it not so heavy? Is it already enough to allot 2.5 hours for travel time from pagudpud to laoag?

Thanks very much guys! I'm a newbie here. I will really appreciate your replies.

    • Travel Schedules from Laoag to pagudpud

by lestat28 Online Now Jan 13, 2012 at 4:29 PM

I really need your help... My girlfriend and I will arrive at Laoag Airport at around 9:15PM. Are there buses at that time bound to Pagudpud? We are in a tight budget so we plan to go directly at Pagudpud and not to spend money in hotels. What is the last trip going to Pagudpud? And just in case there are no buses at that time, what is the cheapest hotel / inn / suite (whatever) that we can stay for the night? Thanks in advance for the help.

by barkada_getaway Online Now Sep 28, 2011 at 3:32 AM

Hi. Is it possible for 6-8 people to enjoy a 2-day vacation in Pagudpud with a 4000php (per head) budget? We're just after the beach and a few tourist spots like paoay and vigan. Please present us with the cheapest or most sulit itinerary you have (i.e. cheap motels/inns, cheapest food or maybe we can just pack our food, thanks) We'll be travelling late october this year and we need to plan our trip as early as now so I hope you could reply asap. Thanks so much for your help!

      pagudpud-laoag tour

by kristina_barairo Online Now Aug 2, 2011 at 8:56 AM

Hi! Me and my boyfriend are planning to go on a 3 day-2 night vacation in ilocos set on Sept3-5. We are to travel by plane and is set to arrive in Laoag Int'l airport before 12:15pm. Originally, we plan to stay only in Pagudpud for 2 1/2 days and explore the tourist spots in Laoag before we head to the airport (departure time is 9:30pm). But lately, I was thinking if we can also visit Vigan during our second day. Is it possible to visit Vigan and Laoag even if we are to stay only in a resort in Pagudpud since we have already booked a 2 nights in a resort in Pagudpud? How long is the travel from Pagudpud to Vigan? Can we visit the tourist spots in Laoag if we were to ride only in jeepneys? Thanks for the reply in advance..^^
