Has anyone cycled from Pagosa to Silverton? Please tell me about your experience.
I guess you mean bicycled and I was on a motorcycle. I hope you are in good shape and use to the altitude. Coal Bank Pass and Molas Pass are both over 10,000 feet between Durango and Silverton. From Pagosa to Durango will be the easy part then it is uphill from Durango to the top of Coal Bank some down hill and then up again to Molas before the long decent into Silverton--and then of course you ride the train back or you have to do it back the other direction. Wonderful scenery, but make sure there are no storms forecast even in summer. I hit snow on Coal Bank in August one year and wiped out on my motorcycle.

Hi, Yes I mean to do it on my bicycle. I mainly chose this route because of the altitude. I love a good challenge. My plan is to have my wife meet me in Silverton in the van and ride back the easy way.
