I'd like to spend a weekend in Oxford in June but can't find any budget accommodation. Are there any cheap (around £50) B & B's, preferably walking distance to the train station? Everywhere I've found is quite expensive and all the hostels seem to only have dorm rooms rather than doubles. Any ideas or do I need to forget about going to Oxford?
50GBP is pretty much baseline for tourist-popular places in season (and Oxford is tourist-popular). However, using the search engine on: http://www.visitoxford.org/stay.asp (the official tourist info site) produced a b&b in the city at less than 50GBP for a 2-night stay in June (Park House). The YHA hostel in Oxford costs substantially less, and does offer separate rooms: yha.org.uk/find-accommodatio... You'll have to phone them to check availability/book (or do it through www.hostelworld.com) It's worth booking as soon as you find somewhere which is available and suits your budget, I think.
