Better to book a tour or try to do it on your own? Arriving on a Monday evening, going to the magic show; will be there all day Tuesday and Wednesday - leaving on Thursday morning. We have a 12 year old and want to do and see as much as possible (possibly including the aero tram and the jet boat). Suggestion greatly appreciated!

    • Which route to Niagara Falls?

Sault Sainte Marie Apr 25, 2013 at 3:17 PM

Hi, I will be driving from Madison Wisconsin to Niagara Falls in June and will be crossing the border at Sault Ste Marie. I would really appreciate some advice on the following: For an overnight stay which would you recommend, the usa or ontario side of the border? What route would you recommend for the onward journey? Is there a route that includes a car ferry crossing? 13 years ago I did a long drive around the great lakes and I remember taking a car ferry but cannot remember where from or where it arrived (across part of lake huron maybe?) I do remember really enjoying that ferry trip though and would love to find it again to enjoy with my children. I seem to recall spending a few hours on a lovely beach after the ferry crossing. Any clues and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

    • Best way to get around Toronto?

      Toronto May 10, 2013 at 7:26 AM

Ok, so I have searched through several of the threads for suggestions for this, and I have found some. In July, four of my friends and I are visiting Toronto. We are wondering if it is worth it to use the TTC pass? Or would it be better for us to go by Taxi? We will be staying near the airport, but we will definitely be checking out the city. We will be there for four nights, and five days.

Hi, I am visiting friends in Barrie for 3 nights and then I'm thinking of staying 1 night in Toronto before leaving for Niagara.

It will be December and I am wondering where's best to stay for just 1 night after a day sight seeing in Toronto?
      Central but on a budget?

Any pointers on what to visit too? We are not into Museums or Galleries etc.

How to get from Niagara, CA to Buffalo Airport for a flight!

Niagara Falls Apr 27, 2013 at 12:11 PM

Hi, I am looking to visit Niagara (CA) for the day and then take a flight from Buffalo to NYC that night, how would we go about this without a car?

Is it OK to go just for the day? We will be travelling from Toronto that day. We could possibly stay 1 night and fly NYC the following morning but no point if nothing to do?

It'll be December so other than the actual looking at the Falls (doubt the boat trip will be on) is there anything else to do?

Niagara Falls Apr 25, 2013 at 8:03 PM

We're heading for Maine later this year, and since we'll be passing so close to Niagara Falls, I'd like to see it. We plan to get to the town of NF, stay for the night, and leave at 10 or 11 the next morning. What's the best way to use our time? Can we get to a good viewpoint at sunrise? Riding the boat can wait for another time - we just want to get a good look and take some pictures.

Where to stay for 1 night?

Niagara Falls Apr 29, 2013 at 11:58 AM

I am coming from Toronto and looking for 1 nights accommodation - central and nice but not too pricey although if it came with a great view I may consider paying more.

We are leaving to fly from Buffalo the next day at 12.35 so if you also know the best way to get from Niagara to Buffalo airport this would help too - I have been told you can jump a taxi cab and also maybe use a train/bus?
Slightly worried that border control could take a while!

Ottawa - Living cost & General queries for an immigrating guy/couple

by explore4passion Online Now Nov 22, 2010 at 3:34 AM

Hello Friends, Please guide on following queries : either for a single man (or a couple) immigrating to Ottawa on work-permit/Visa, a 1st time traveler to Canada. Simple living, eating habits : Vegetarian, non-smoker, non-alcoholic but essentially seeking TV, NET & Mobile-phone connectivity! 1). Cost of quality & hygienic living, may not be luxurious but a decent one. 2). Please indicate accommodation-cost separately single-bedroom + 1 Living & Dining room apartment, both - furnished or unfurnished, within the reasonable limits. 3). Public transport & Gym, in close-vicinity, would be a preference-criteria for apartment location. 4). Medical facilities : Is buying normal medicines from local pharmacists & Chemist shops, without any prescription, is common or it's prohibited and only to be sold on prescription, as per local law. 5). Which are essential utilities that are suggested to be brought along (other than dresses, etc.) - with a view point of avoiding both - hassles & expenditure within 1-2 months of arrival. 6). How is normally the social, as well as, sex-life of bachelors in the city. ...Lot of questions, isn't it ??? Even your part-replies are most welcome. Thanks, in advance, for helping me out !!! CHEERS !

I will be working in the Kanata area, and would like to know if there are any areas around there where you would recommed I look for housing? I am looking in the MAX. upto600 dollar. Also, is it better to just stay around there even though it might not have everything one might need, or go further away from the Kanata area but live closer to the central city: I understand there's a trade-off. I am not at all familiar with Kanata or Ottawa for that matter, so I could be incorrectly informed about the "Kanata might not have everything one might..." Also, to look for housing: is craigslist the only tool or are there any other weblinks? Thank you! Mansi
