Campsites for Auschwitz?

by Obes Online Now Jun 28, 2004 at 3:40 PM

Hi, I'm planning on spending a few nights near, or at least, hopefully near to Auschwitz. Can someone please help me with finding a campsite nearby, it would be a great deal of help. I've tried looking around on the internet, but most sites I found are in Polish ... and there's no translation! Thanks! Obes.

Hi, As far as I know in Oswiecim itself you can only camp on the ground of the International House for Youth Meetings (Miedzynarodowy Dom Spotkan Mlodziezy). It is not a real camping site but they do have place for setting up a tent. The prices start from 4 Euro/tent. Reservation is required: http://www.szyndzielnia.pl/index.htm If you look for a good base for several days, then I would advice to go to Bielsko-Biala ( ca 40 km out of Oswiecim) to Camping called *Pod Debowcem*. The prices start from ca 1 Euro/ tent and the location is really splendid: http://www.szyndzielnia.pl To find more addresses (Oswiecim is situated in province: Malopolskie), have a look at the site of Polish Camping Federation (PFCC): pfcc.info/pol/main.php?nazwa... There is also a Polish Camping Map available, you can buy it in the gasoline stations while in Poland (the price is ca 1,5 Euro). If you need to translate some info from Polish into English, feel free to ask . Enjoy your stay in Poland :)) Bozena

Thank you :-) This seems to be what we're looking for. I'll give the other sites a look too.
