Coming to Oslo Thursday. Do I need a huge ski/mountain coat or can I bring a lighter weight ski coat? Trying to fit everything! Advice?
Hi - what companies have small ships (100 or less passengers) cruising Norway's coast, visiting your fiords. We're looking for a company that includes hiking, kayaking, inflatable boats for short touring and educational lectures in English. Thanks, Marty
We shall have the whole day in Oslo from after breakfast (staying at the COMFORT RUNWAY hotel) and have to be back in time for a flight at 1955.
What is the best way into Oslo and back?
What would be a good sightseeing itinerary in town?
Should we leave luggage at the hotel or airport?
It looks so delicious, and it reminds me of something I ate when I was little
I have got a brief layover in Oslo Gardermoen (5.15 hours to be precise!). What would you suggest? Climbing the Opera house is already on my list :)
I am visiting the city since yesterday but is all alone so just get kind of bore anyone around to meet and move together?
Hello everyone, I have one spare train ticket (return) and would like to know if anyone would need it so I can resell it.
The train tickets is from Oslo (departing at 23:23 on 12 jun 2013) to Voss (arriving at 05:25 on 13 jun). The return is from Voss (departing at 00:27 on 17 jun 2013) to Oslo (arriving at 06:27 on 17 jun). I purchased them at the mini price which is NOK 249 and NOK 399. Unfortunately my plane to Oslo has been cancelled in cause of an airport stricke, so I now have these two tickets and I'm looking for someone who happens to plan traveling to Voss on 12 june.
If you are interested in purchasing these tickets, please reply to me and we are work on the details.
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and my phone number is +33 0608787528
Thank you very much.
How much will a taxi cost from the Grand Hotel in Oslo to the Oslo Airport
We shall be flying into Oslo with SAS from Tromso arriving 1205 and transferring onto a BA flight to London.
The BA flight time was originally 1515, but it has been changed to 1435.
Is 2hrs 30 mins sufficient time for the transfer?
Which daytrips would you suggest from Oslo? (around 1-1,5 hours away).
Hello. I am planning to take a ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo to make a short trip to these two Scandinavian capital cities. I will be in Oslo only about 6 hours. I wonder what one can do in such a short time in Oslo? Any tips? Greetings. Magda
My name is Kyra and I'm from Belgium. I'm searching for a person who wants to visit Norway with me. The country has always fascinated me, first with the mythes (I love fairytales) and then with it's beautiful nature. I really want to visit Oslo, but I know that that is not the place to be if you want to see nature. So maybe I also want to explore the rest of the country. I also don't know for how long I want stay there, it also depends on the company I'm with.
So if you are adventurous and not afraid of cold weather, let me know something and we can talk about it more.
I visited Norway a year ago and purchased these adorable little troll dolls
I lost them and want to buy new ones but can't seem to find them online.
I think the only place where they're sold are at the small gift shops (that cater to tourists), like this one
My problem is, I have no way of contacting these little gift shops (as none of them have any online website). I tried contacting the larger retail stores, but none of them carry this particular troll.
So I have a request, can someone in Norway get me the contact information for a small gift shop like the one pictured here.
I'd like to email them to ask them if they carry the troll doll that I'm looking for.
Im traveling solo to oslo in mid-february. If anyone would like to meet up for a drink, that would be great.
I would like to have an idea what it would cost to take a taxi from the cruise terminal in Oslo to the Vigeland Sculpture Park. Or, when I was younger I took the #12 tram to the park but forget where I boarded it! If I take the tram, how do I pay on board and how much?
I might be visiting Oslo in December as part of my round the world trip.
Since there is no possibility of doing day trips from Oslo with tours companies in the middle of winter, do you think 2 days would be enough to spend there? (Arrive on 23rd of December and leave on 25th of December - so that would give me an entire full day to explore the city on the 24th)
Also what could I do while I am there?
Hi, I am taking the ferry tomorrow morning to Oslo from Denmark and read that Thursday, May 17 is a National Holiday in Norway. Does anyone know if the museums will be open? Are there any special things to do that day, I will be there from 16-18 May and then driving to Stockholm. Thanks!!
I have 2 full days in Oslo. Any suggestions on what to cover? =)
Staying near Central station - I heard everything is walkable?
Im heading to Norway and was wondering what the gay scene was like in Oslo? Are there any gay clubs/bars and is it safe?
Is there such a thing as accommodation in Oslo where a double room would cost 100USD or less. Apperantly, there is an organisation at the city hall and at the train station that books rooms in private houses but it should be done on the day of arriaval and it is not immideately clear how much these rooms would cost. Does anybody have any idea? Have you used this service? Thanks for the insights.
How do you get to Holmenkollen March 2012 XC ski venue by metro/bus/train from Oslo, Norway? And which one?
I'm planning a trip to Oslo. I think I'll get to NY on the train. But I was looking at flights from JFK to Oslo. Icelandair looks good to me. Anyone fly it? Any reason I should avoid it?
Hi everybody, I'm trying to prepare a trip in the last minute to see the aurora borealis. It must be un express trip! from friday 9 to saturday 10 dicember, only spending one night to try to see the norther lights. Do you think it is possible? does anyone know if there are a lot of norther lights at this moment? Is it possible to see them near Oslo? or is it easy to move from Oslo to somewhere we can see them?
There are a lot of questions and a few time, I will be grateful with any help information.
On our trip to Europe this summer we stayed for a week in Oslo, (yes, the SAME week of the bombings and the tragic killings in Utoya. We were on Bgdoy peninsula during the bombing though.)
I have a few images of this magnificent building but even with the aid of street signs I cannot find it on Google Earth. (trying to retrace our amazing trip.)
Can anyone help me out here, or at least point in the right direction? I think it was near the palace, or maybe Vigeland Park.
My friend has recently moved to Oslo and is living in an area which is great during the day but a nightmare during the evening. The restaurants turn into night clubs and the noise goes on constantly all night. His apartment is near the harbor near Aker Brygge.
It's hard to decide what would be a great area to live if you don't know the city really well. What would be the best way to go about it and find a new place to live. How do you know if the found the right area that suits your wish list. Is there a good internet site with apartments for rent?
Some wishes: green (park) nearby, quite area during evening or night, not family or children area, 2 bedrooms and with balcony.
Could anybody give some tips and tricks? All help is welcome.
I will be using my eurail pass to travel the Norway in a Nutshell route. I read that a reservation is quite essential for the Oslo to Mydral part of the trip during summer peak.
My question is, if I am travelling on 20th September 2011, is it still advisable for me to make a reservation in advance for Oslo to Mydral train trip? Or can I just safely make a reservation the day before when I reach Oslo and still get a seat?
Is there any way that I can make the reservation online? Or else, is there any email which I can wrtite to NSB to make a reservation?
First time in Oslo as an adult. I've already seen the extra hoops we'll have to jump thru with Ryanair...is that airport an hour away by the bus? We plan to go to the statue park, viking museum, see the Munch painting (I know..it's a copy, right?), eat shrimp on the dock (look for intact antenna)...been told to stay away from...oh, what is it called? Where you can see how the early settlers lived like a living museum? Also, if it isn't recommended to buy the wool sweaters/jumpers...where should we look to get items made IN Norway? Does the price not always reflect that I was wondering? If we are staying for 5 days...do most spring for the Oslo Pass but only get them for a day or two possibly and maximize those museums those days...and then walk to the rest of the places you'd like to see the other days? Is a day trip to Bergen something to do or is that too ambitious? Sorry for all the questions...of course we want to see and experience as much as we can and are thankful we have more than a few days!
Thanks for any insight you can offer!
We are returning to Oslo for just one day as part of a cruise. We have previously enjoyed most all of the popular tourist attractions. We would love some new ideas for things to do and places to see during our one day return on September 12. Thanks so much. Bob & Fran
I am going to visit Oslo on Sunday, do you know a place with free wiffi ?

We are heading to Oslo for 2 days in September and would like any suggestions for good accommodation that is central and also a few tips on what to do. Thanks. C
