How unbearable is the weather at Disney in late August? Also, how likely is the chance of hurricanes?
Pretty much any state in the south US by late August can still be mid 90's (F) and mid 70's in the evening. There may be a break here and there, but still light clothing for sure. Hurricane season is now until October. One brews now below Jamaica and supposed to head towards Canacun and finally into the gulf waters.

Orlando in the summer will be hot, as noted above...actually, Orlando can be pretty hot all year round ;-) Your consolation is that Florida and the Gulf States tend to get afternoon showers. When I lived in Beaumont (Texas), they came every afternoon at 3 p.m., like clockwork. It's nice when it rains, but when the sun comes back out, it's now hot AND humid :-0... Chance of hurricane? Between 0% and 100%. There is no way of knowing until about 7-10 days before the event. But note that Orlando is so far inland that a hurricane is a wind and rain event only, not a tidal surge event which actually causes much of the damage along the coast. Bill

Orlando is inland quite a ways so if a hurricane hits either Florida coast it will diminish over landfall meaning winds will be far less, although a lot of rain would be possible. At Disney you can always escape to indoor venues to escape the heat.

I live in Miami, we are constantly on watch for upcoming storms during hurricane season. Hurricane season runs through the end of November btw, not October. Orlando, although it may not be directly impacted by a storm will still get plenty of showers and humidity associated with any tropical storms which may head in our general vicinity. We continue life as normal and do not let the possibility of a storm or hurricane diminish our day to day lives. I'd be more concerned with the terribly heat during August and September than the chances of being directly hit by a hurricane. Chances are slim one will head our way, especially this year when the activity of the season seems low to middling...having said that, it only takes one. Forget about it, come and enjoy!!!

i used to go there often and live on the coast by ormond beach, august inland is very hot can have several days in the 10O°F, you need to be prepare to dress light and drink water. hurricanes is the busy season there but its been going for centuries, the probabilities are small. Certainly wont stop me from going. hope it helps your decision

The chanceof a hurican is always therr, but like the others said, Orando is inland. It would be mostly wind and rain. It will most likely rain at least once a day for maybe 30 minutes or so. It will be hot and humid, but that's why they make central air and swimming pools! Say hello to Mickey for me! Enjoy!!

Typically highs in the mid 90's, lows of around 80 and very humid. In the 15 years I lived in Orlando (1980 -1995) I only missed one day of work because of hurricanes.

We currently have the usual hot and muggy weather and a thunderstorm each afternoon. I personally would not want to go to Disney in August, yuck! Standing in line in this heat! WAY to uncomfortable. If you do go, I would try Blizzard beach ( waterpark) but go early since they make you get out if there is lightening Hurricanes: in the past 25 or so years since I have lived here we have had one bad year of hurricanes 2004, all the rest were minor or nothing at all, so I would not let this stop me from coming
