Hi, We have booked to go to Disneyworld in September, for 14 nights, but whilst we are there we would like to visit a number of the other attractions in the area. We've found information about combi tickets for the other parks, but we're really struggling to find information about transportation between disney and the surrounding parks. We've considered a car, but we are, as yet, unsure about this, if anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
within the parks the trasport is good but to go to other parks not related is not easy without a car. Public transport is not yet like in Europe for example. I used to lived on the coast 1h15 from there and always took the car, so hopefully someone who has taken public transport can come alone. Cheers

I'm guessing that you are staying in a Disney hotel so have transport included to all of the Disney parks. We too have stayed in a Disney hotel and visited both Seaworld and Universal Parks without having hired a car. To do this, you first need to get yourselves to Downtown Disney which is easy using your Disney buses. There is a bus stop opposite Downtown Disney which you can use to get a regular bus to Seaworld and to link up with the I trolley which would also take you to Universal. I trolley have their own website with a map on the internet. It is relatively cheap but we found it time consuming waiting for the bus and the connections. So on our visit last year we used taxis to go to Universal from a Disney hotel. For a return trip this was about 90 dollars. This was a lot more expensive than the bus but we weighed up the cost for the 5 of us against hiring a car/convenience and decided that the two trips that we made were worth the expense. We are planning our next trip and have a similar dilemma over car hire. We enjoy being transported around rather than driving, after all it is supposed to be a holiday!

I would strongly advise that you rent a car from Dollar or Alamo as it would be more convenient for both you and your family to travel between Disney and the other parks like Universal and Sea World which are some distance away. From personal experience, reliance upon third party transportation can have disadvantages that may spoil an exciting day.

Hi - I would definitely suggest renting a car. To get from Disney to the other parks using Disney transportation TO public transportation is going to waste a lot of time. Since you're talking about visiting "a number of other attractions" as opposed to going off Disney property once or twice, taxis are going to get expensive. Driving is easy and signage is good. You'll also have the opportunity to venture out to eat meals outside of the Disney machine if you like. E-Z Car Rentals usually give the best deal. You can check rates/make a reservation at http://www.e-zrentacar.com/. You may want to book a car when you find a price you're happy with. It doesn't cost anything to do so and can be canceled without hassle. Prices are just likely to rise the longer you wait. Have a great time!

Renting a car is most helpful. Plus if you decide you had enough of the parks you can drive to either Daytona, the Kennedy space center or Tampa to visit Busch Gardens which is another park but different then in Orlando. And you can go to eat all over the area and avoid waiting for expensive cabs.

Using a car is definately much better i would say, we went before we had kids, stayed on I-Drive and used public transport definately would not do this now that we have the kids. Makes for very long days then can be a long trip home, with the car you can take it more at your own pace, go to the park when you want and leave when you want. You can always park at Disney and use the Disney shuttles to go between the parks. Whatever you do have fun!!!
