Does anyone have experience with the areas of Russia that the Mongol Rally generally goes through (i.e. the northern coast of the Caspian between Ukraine and Kazakhstan, and the Altai region crossing from Kazakhstan to Mongolia). especially the border crossings, and driving a foreign vehicle through these regions? What can we expect?
I will be going to Dubna for five weeks this summer and was wondering how safe it is as a whole. I am looking to do some morning running and want to make sure that this is advisable. What is crime like in the city? Are there areas to avoid, times to avoid being out alone (of course middle of the night, but otherwise). My assumption is that it is quite a safe place due to it being a scientific town with a relatively small size, but I would like to make sure before I go.
Will running be a problem or hazardous, or will I be fine if I exercise the normal precautions used when running elsewhere?
Has anyone booked a tour with All-Russia Travel Service which has a subsidiary company Grint Hospitality based in Moscow? Any feedback would be appreciated, Gayle
Hi,
I will be in St-P for work for three days next week.
When looking at the evening events St-P offers, ballet in one of the theaters seems to be a good call. Is it possible to buy tickets last-minute? Or are they often sold out in advance?
Also, is it possible to join an existing city tour last-minute? I can't really say in advance which day I will be having the most time to do this but I definately want to explore St-P a bit.
Thanks lot for your kind assistance.
I am travelling to Moscow next week. I would need to do lot of emails, browsing and navigation there. Carrying data packages from India is far to expensive. What would be a good and cheap option to use internet in Russia. Do we have readily available Wi-Fi zones there?
Hello,
I'll be in Petrozavodsk in July. Can anybody suggest what i should have a look at or where to go. I've seen online about Kizhi. I understand that there is a boat trip from the waterfront.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
I wish to take a Trans Mongolian Train Trip from Moscow to Beijing with stop overs in Irkutz and then Ulan Bator. I have had a previous bad experience (not Russia) of buying and paying for tickets on line which was never secured or my money refunded. I am also concerned about being charged at the whim of the vendor. On line I see Real Russia is recommended as an agency to buy these tickets from. Please assist. I need to secure with reputable suppliers for accommodation & transport in proof to apply for a Russian Visa here in South Africa.

How many hours I should plan for visiting Kolomenskoye? Does it fulfil a full day?
Is visiting Kremlin on sunday a good idea or will some of its attractions be closed due to church service?
I have oportunity to visit Moscow( won the trip) but i only have limited choice of hotels.
There are 4 choices:
The hotel is located in a quiet residential area north of Moscow's centre, within walking distance of Petrovsko-Razumovskaya metro station. The hotel enjoys vicinity with Estate Ostankino, Palace of Count Sheremetyev, All-Russian Exhibition Centre and magnificent Botanical Garden.
The hotel is located in the VDNH area, just off a busy road leading to Moscow's centre. There is a shopping mall and supermarket open 24 hours a day only minutes from the hotel.Hotel is conveniently located on Yaroslavskoe shosse not far from the All-Russia Exhibition Centre (V.V.C.) and Ostankino television centre. You will see beautiful "Elk Island" ("Losiny Ostrov") national park out of your windows.
Hotel Cosmos is located to the north of Moscow city centre on Prospekt Mira. It is situated adjacent to the exhibition centre VDNKh, and next to the metro station of the same name.
Maxima Panorama arrangement is one of the most important advantages of this hotel – just a few meters from metro station “Avtozavodskaya”, in a business part of Moscow: 4 Masterkova str., 115280, Moscow.
Flight is to and from Domodedjevo, in some istances is just over 60km away.
Any idea on transfer?
Last time i was in Moskva, was in 1987 and we stayed in Student Dorm.

I would like to know where the music, dance and opera concerts take place. Is Orel an artistic community? Are there music conservatories where one might gain employment as a voice teacher. Are there performance opportunities for classically trained singers, in concert or in the theater? Thank you. Dr. William Mouat e-mail: wmouat@yahoo.com
