Oregon Coast-Newport Lodging

by baldridged Online Now May 10, 2007 at 9:06 AM

Hello, We live in Oregon so a friend has asked me to refer them to a place to stay in Newport for 3 days the first week of June. We have only passed through there. They want to stay there and tour the coast from this "base". They (she) likes COMFORT and he tends towards watching the pocketbook. Thanks so very much in advance, Doreen

A nice balance might be the Best Western at Agate Beach in north Newport. It was orignally built (in the 80's) as a Hilton. Nice, large, clean rooms, most with ocean views. The facility is about one block removed from the beach but there is nothing in between. Very nice (and loooong) beach in front.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. They have elected to stay in Cannon Beach at the Stephanie, which is quite nice. While they will not be as centrally located, they will enjoy the surf at their doorstep so to speak. Warm regards, Doreen

The Stephanie Inn is very nice, and they have a great restaurant there, also. We have a beach cottage in Seaside where we stay so we don't require lodging, but I would definitely stay here if we needed hotel accomodations. Cannon Beach is a gorgeous area of the Oregon Coast, we will be back in the area in a few days for an extended stay on the coast this summer. Bistro, the Wayfarer, Gower St.Bistro and Mo's are a few of our favorite places to dine in the area. Ecola State Park is not to be missed, also. :)
