Please tell me the schedule for the train from Opatija to Ljubljana. I would like to leave Opatija in early afternoon. I will turn in a car at Hotel Istra. Is that an easy walking distance to the train station. Many thanks.
I think you'll have to catch the train from nearby Rijeka.

There is no train station in Opatija. It is some 4-5 km above Opatija in the town Matulji, it only bears the name Opatija -Matulji, so you should take a taxi from Opatija to Matulji it is cheap. There is train to Ljubljana several times a day , no problem for booking, you can do it in some agency when you are there. Yes, you can go from Rijeka, but in Matulji is a lovely little train station, you must see it.

I agree with previous posts - it is either Rijeka or Matulji. You can find timetables online at www.hznet.hr or www.bahn.de.
