Considering this Khasab forum has precisely two posts over the entire history of VT, I'm not hoping for a lot here. But I will be on my own in Khasab from Feb. 27-March 2 and in case anyone else in the universe will be there, I would love to meet up with you! I will be driving from Dubai and returning there at the crack of dawn on March 3, so if anyone in Dubai feels like a jaunt to Khasab, let me know.
Shangri la, intercontinental and crown plaza can not guarantee twin rooms! Is there another hotel I can ask, that is lisenced ? After a tour or shopping around we would just like to go to the hotel bar or have a beer pool side! Most hotels I keep searching say not lisenced!
I will be traveling to muscat in a week. I would like to know how much does it cost for taxi from the international airport to Al Khuwair?
I have holidays for 4 weeks from April 23rd, We have been wanting to go to Oman for ages, but we honestly need to know is end of April to early May too hot? We are from Queensland, Australia where it's 30 c and above most days at the moment and humidity high anyway. I can't change holidays to any other time, this yr anyway! Thanks all!
Hi, I am planning a trip to Oman for 10 days in early February 2013th. Is it possible to travel individually in Oman by bus attraction to attraction? What's easier to do individually: Muscat / Nizwa / or around Salalah. Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable driver or local tour operator in Oman? What are the prices for transportation, entrance fees, meals? Are there places to stay in the old fort or provincial lodging? Thanks.
Hello All, I would be travelling to Dubai via Muscat.Would be in transit at the airport for two hours. Can anyone suggest good areas to roam around at the airport ? thanks, Chetan.
Are you supposed to tip in Oman, and if so, what are te guidlines?
Dear Forum: I will be in Salalah for 2 days from Dec 20th. I have narrowed my hotel options to Crowne Plaza or Juweira Hotel. The online reviews for both seem even so difficult to decide which is the better. Juweira infrastructure seems a bit nicer and newer from the photos. Cost not an issue though we want value for money. There are 2 adults and 3 kids. Anyone can offer an opinion on which has access to the better beach? Any other views on both will be welcome as well. Thanks for your views.
Do I need a visa to Oman?
I'm planing to be in Muscat in February for 2 days. Can someone tell me which is the best area in Muscat to stay? I don't want to stay at the beach, I would prefer to stay somewhere in old town or somewhere close maybe? I saw that the city is very spread out. Any nice but not too expensive accommodation? Thanks for your support folks!
Hi, I'll be flying back to Kuala Lumpur via Dubai with a stopover in Oman. Planning to extend my stay to two nights. Can someone recommend me a hotel which is somewhere in between the airport and the city? A place where I can just walk around and easily accessible? Suggestions are greatly appreciated. Many thanks! -Warda-
Hello VT folks, and thanks to all the people who have so far patiently answered all my questions. I have one more to make, a general one : can someone give me a roundup view of where it is okay to bathe ? meaning, where in Muscat, or near Sur, can I wear my swimming-suit on the beach and swim ? A well-travelled friend said that at the public beach in Muscat it was a no-no, and suggested only hotels' private beaches were the right place for that. I don't want to bother Oman people and go against the rules, so can someone explain ? Thanks, Marjorie
hi, can anyone suggest which places r good to visit in mornings and evenings. i'm planning a trip to salalah from dubai.
Hello, we unfortunately seem to have been too late in making a reservation for the Ras al Jinz tours and we still would love to watch turtles. Anyone knows how/where that can be done without breaking the law/ disturbing the critters ? Many thanks,
Hi fellows, yet another question... but departure time is coming close. I'm trying to contact a small place called Green Villa Qantab for accomodation, but I'm surprised they don't even seem to have a website.... Anyone know their e-mail address/phone/website URL ? Thanks a lot. If you have in mind a place where (reasonably priced) accomodation would be available during the busy period at the end of this coming week (Oct 24-28), please let me know. many thanks !!!! Regards,
hi folks, i was wondering if renting a 4X4 instead of a regular (thus cheaper) car was an obligation if you're not planning on going off the beaten track. We'll be going from Muscat to Sur, then on to road 23, staying at one of those desert camps, and on to Nizwah, and back to Muscat. It sure would be nice to be able to go wherever we feel like, but I wonder whether the road conditions haven't lately improved to the point where a 4X4 is superfluous. Can anyone help with some advice on the matter ? Thanks a lot, 7 Marjorie
Hi fellow travellers, I have a questionre regarding hotels in Muscat. I have been looking at several options, but because I want to be as close to the beach as possible, I ended up picking the Beach Bay -Swiss Belhotel. However i cannot see any review of it anywhere and it doesn't show on the Swiss Belhotel chain website ! Does it even exist, is there a problem with that hotel, has anyone any feedback on it ? I would really appreciate your help. thank you, Best, Marjorie

My family members went to Omani land border via Dubai showed the Joint visa) Immigration officials stated that this visa is not valid. When ringing the Omani consulate in Dubai to reconfirm - i was informed by consular officials’ that Joint Visa is valid. How come the Omani immigration stated visa not valid? Even when I personal travelled to Dubai) my Dubai visa was valid for 10 days I was informed the joint visa with Dubai is not valid) I was 1 day late) When I showed Immigration officials that stated you visa should be valid for 21 days I had pay 200 AED = £34.50 British pounds.
