Hi We will be in the park in June and are interested in alpine photo ops. Of course Hurricane Ridge is a stop but that seems to be the only place mentioned on the internet. I was hoping for some other options in or maybe outside the park but within a hours drive. Also, I have seen video of tourists encountering mountain goats while on Hurricane Ridge..does anyone know other places they might be found in June? Thanks in advance Doug
Hey there - we did the Hurricane Hill hike at Olympic but didn't have time for any other alpine exploration. Take a look at the trail descriptions for that area: nps.gov/olym/planyourvisit/l... Klahhane Ridge would have been the other one we would have gotten in if I hadn't had one killer of a head cold. I had also found these for other hikes in the Olympic Mountains on the peninsula: http://trailsnw.com/olympics Wish I could give you some firsthand recos on these (Lake of the Angels looks like a good one) but had too few days for getting fitting in too much park!

Just another idea? When you stop at the rangers station/visitor center to pick up your park passes, talk to the rangers about additional hikes in the area. Those folks often do a lot of exploring in their free time so just might know of some great hikes outside of the listed park trails.

You got it - and the beaches are fantastic. That's the section of park I took WAY too many shots of! Sorry I can't tell you where to find the goats.

You're welcome. If I can come up with any others I run across, I'll pass 'em along. BTW, there's a fun little microbrewery in Port Angeles, if you like beer: Peaks, just a block or so from the port - great folks.
