Depends on the driving conditions too. You have to cross several mountain passes, which may be snowed in, depending on the time of year. Certain vehicles aren't well suited for long uphill slogs, and can take longer due to the need to stop and let them cool off when making continuous long uphill runs in, for example, Colorado or Wyoming. Keep in mind that Olympia IS the capitol of the State of Washington, so if you just ask "How far from the capital to Olympia?" without specifying Washiongton DC you may wind up with distances in the 2 mile range.

She Did write D.C., but didn't indicate which Olympia- it does make a difference, as you can see by the above post.

Personally, I would think that she is confused with the wrong WASHINGTON; is thinking of the State and thinks she can go to Olympia within Washington State; but of course we will have to wait to find out what she really means.

OK, so driving to Olympia form WHERE in Washington State?

Once I read about a guy from London wanted to go to Sydney in New South Wales (Australia) to visit his girlfiend. Unfortunally I went to Sydney in Nova Scotia (Canada) If it will be from Washington DC to Olympia WA it's a good trip, about 2800 miles, two whole days with stops just for gasoline and eat.

I've never heard of anyone doing it in less that three.

I wouldn't think it'd be POSSIBLE in less than 3.

I notice it didn't include several important steps: 1. Locate car in Washington DC snow drift. 2. Start digging. 3. Stop when you finally figure out where the road is. With the weather the way it is, it might take a few days just to find the car in the snowdrifts in Washington DC. Getting from there out of town might require additional time and/or shovelling.

who knows? maybe there will be NOT a lot of snow on July 10th....

Don't underestimate a kiwi, she may well be driving from DC to Olympia :-)) Wonder how it went - assuming this has already happened :-)

since she has never logged on again since 11th FEB, I doubt we will ever know the story......
