Train from Oceanside

I'm planning a trip from Oceanside to Van Nuys in the near future and understand I can do this by rail. Do I use Amtrak or Metrolink - or which is preferable? I'm a senior. EK.

    You can do Amtrak the entire way. But it may open up more time options for you if you do Amtrak from Oceanside to Union Station in LA, then Metrolink to Van Nuys. hth
