Hello, i've been searching the internet for some wellness, spa center in Sofia or Plovdiv in Bulgaria that issues gift certificates which can be bought online. The thing is, I have a friend there who I'd like to buy a gift certificate for massage treatment or some spa program for her birthday, but there has to be an option paying over internet, or from foreign account or whatever. Hello all, I am travelling through Sofia in October and I was wondering if it is a hassle to book an overnight train ride (in a sleeping wagon) from Sofia to Bucharest in Sofia itself. I'm from Germany and I went to the Deutsche Bahn counter and asked if I could book it from here, but it's not possible. They couldn't even give me a website I could book it from. So I was wondering if I go to a counter in Sofia, will communicating this be a difficulty? I have an interrail ticket, which means I won't have to book the train ride, just the sleeping wagon. Has anyone done this before? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Regards

Hi, I am travelling to Sofia in June , spending a few nights there and then travelling to Ravda for 5 days, we had originally booked a car rental but have now decided to use either a bus or train, can anyone advise me of trains and buses that travel from Sofia to Ravda and how long they take and how much they cost, we will be travelling back to sofia for our flight back to UK also. I am looking for a reliable, trustworthy, safe and, of course VERY AFFORDABLE driver, taxi etc. for local rides, pick up etc. We are talking no less than an average of two runs per day plus one/two more on weekends (nights?) what is the best place (better rate) for exchanging money in Sofia? is the difference at the airport a rip off so to do only a few euros and then the rest in the city center?

is there any suggestions for day trips from Sofia during winter period? we wont have a car so it must be easy to do it by bus or train. what we're looking for is to visit a small town in the morning, walk around for 1-2 hours, probably see a monument, have lunch and return back to Sofia.

Are there strict "no shorts or trainers" policies or can you wear what you want as long as you look smart enough? I am planning to travel by sleeper to Istanbul from Sofia on 27 May. I know I have to buy the tickets for this on the station at Sofia. Can anyone help with advice on how to go about doing this. We will be in Sofia in mid-May for a conference, and are looking for suggestions for hearing good quality, live traditional Bulgarian music (dance as well would be a plus). We've bumped into wonderful music in other countries in local bars and clubs, parks and the odd wandering musician (Istanbul especially!), but Sofia will be new to us. Hello, my colleague and I am travelling through Bulgaria as part of journey to Istanbul, the train stops off at Sofia and we would like to sample the city for a couple of days en-route to Plovdiv. We are interested in the history, art, architecture and meeting local people, we always try the local food and drink. This is my first visit to Bulgaria. We will be travelling by train from Belgrade and would like to also visit any interesting small towns on the route and take a scenic train ride. Thanks Jonathan

Hi Everyone, I am trying to decide on a stag do destination for early July. Im looking for somewhere where the beer is cheap and the nights are long. I have tried to look through europe for countries that are not in the Euro € in order to facilitate our cheap break away. Not looking for a chaotic stag do i.e. Prague but the usual requirements for a standard stag do stand. Beer, Strip Clubs, Daytime activities etc. Can anyone advise whether Sofia would be a good choice and good value for money i.e. Price of beers/clubs/food etc for someone coming from the UK?? Hi I am going to Sofia for 2days soon. I read some people here had problems with ATM's. My card is generally accepted abroad but is it better to bring cash? Day one I would like to go shopping for some ethnic/traditional goods, where is the best place for that? On the second day I would like to visit Mount Vitosha. Not to ski, just to go up by cable car or chairlift and have a hot chocolate and look at the scenery! What is the best route up for this? As I heard there is more than one way. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

There will be about 10 of us all of varying abilities and are looking to hire bikes and get a cable car (if possible) up a mountain and cycle back down.
