    • Tips and must do in Ensenada in 2 days?

      Ensenada Apr 1, 2014 at 6:09 PM

19 year old college daughter and I are going to Ensenada for 2 days tomorrow -- we are both outdoorsy, nature lovers, also both speak Spanish and love culture and meeting people. Not big shoppers. At home staying at a really inexpensive hotel or a nice resort. We are renting a car in San Diego and driving down. Already have hotel reservations. Thanks!!

    • Walking into Tijuana

      Tijuana Mar 25, 2014 at 8:42 AM

I've been across many times, but the last time, the new pedestrian route was a difficult walk for me. Are there now any reasonable alternatives ? Mexicoach used to run a cross border bus, but they were very unreliable. I think there must be some other way - I'm not the only one who would have difficulty with the new pedestrian crossing.

    • Crossing from tijuana to San Diego

      Tijuana Yesterday

I'm in tijuana right now and do not have a passport i want to walk across with my ID and birth certificate if i'm a US citizen?

    • walking into the US from Tijuana

      Tijuana Yesterday

My passport was recently stolen while I have been in Mazatlan. I went to the US Consulate to find out what to do. The options they suggested were to get an emergency passport (which will take 3 days, so cant leave until 4 days from now) or to get to the border and walk across if I have a drivers license. I decided to do the latter, where I can fly to Tijuana tomorrow and then take a plane from San Diego to home. My question is, how much time should I plan on getting from Tijuana airport to border, cross the border, and get to the San Diego airport (I get in at 2:30 on a Tue)? What about a bus from TIJ airport across the border if I don't have a passport?

    • giant pot holes

      Ensenada Apr 13, 2014 at 3:07 PM

When we got home from one of our trips to ensenada, I had to buy a new tire rim. the car made it home to dana point ca. because the air came out slow enough not to cause a flat too soon. whats wrong with that city that they leave the same pot holes there that get bigger over time and they don't know how to repair pot holes in the street ? that one was hard to avoid hitting because it was either hit that or get hit by another car, they drive like they're nuts there too.

Hi, does anyone know a good resource for events in Oaxaca? I'm going there soon and want to find some information on live music, theatre, art etc - not so much the big touristy stuff but smaller local events.

People are scaring us about these things, is it a really concern, we don't want to be worried about junk
like this traveling, also where is a good place to check for safety issues in certain cities that is more official
      any sites you can recommend.

    • Bring my iPad to Oaxaca City?

by generdude Online Now Feb 26, 2012 at 10:47 AM

I'm wondering if it's a good idea to bring my iPad with us to Oaxaca City. Is there anyone with experience in bringing a laptop or iPad? Is it safe to leave it in a reputable hotel? We're staying at the Mariposa, which doesn't have a room safe, only a general area for guests that isn't locked.

by kespino Online Now Dec 6, 2011 at 3:59 PM

Can you travel from Oaxaca to Hualtulco by air direct without having to go through Mexico City. If there are small airlines that make the trip, can you give me a website? What is the estimated cost for a one way trip?

    • Reasonable priced accomodation in Mazunte.

by snurt Online Now Feb 14, 2011 at 11:12 AM

Would like to hear any suggestions, traveling with my girlfriend and lookinng for a 1 bedroom bungalow or small apartment, with cooking facilities and bathroom, within a 5-10 minute walk to the beach.

We want to rent for approx 2 months, tried the internet but the prices quoted were quite frankly daylight robbery.

I was under the impression500 per month would be more than enough for a nice place but starting to realise things might be more expensive than I imagined.

any and all suggestions thanking you !!!

    • Please, info about oaxaca City / Monte Alban/Hatulco

by bterchin Online Now Feb 1, 2010 at 10:48 AM

Hi, everyone! We're going to Huatulco, Oaxaca nest month. Does anyone know of an excursion company that can take us by plane across the mountains from Huatulco to Ciudad de Oaxaca and Monte Alban? About 15 years ago, there was compay that took me to a church, a museum, the city for a few hours and the great Monte Alban.
Do the the hotels still have these excursions? Driving won't be an option for us, and the bus ride takes about 7 hours. Has anyone an idea or name?
      THank you SO much!! Bonnie

    • Backpackers bus from Mexico City to Oaxaca?

by christinejb Online Now Apr 29, 2005 at 5:01 AM

I have information on a backpackers bus service that operates from Mexico City to Oaxaca. Unfortunately all efforts to confirm this service has come to nothing.
Does anyone have the details of who to contact for this service?
I am a first time visitor to Mexico and are travelling on my own, so I would like to make sure I have as much info as possible before I head off.
