Hi! I wonder if anyone will even see this, but we have a few questions about visiting Oakland. What's the best way to get from Lake Merritt to the Rockridge restaurant area? I'll be travelling with a couple of kids (a tween and a teen), and we're staying at a b&b type place right near the park on the Lake. Any public transportation tips will be great, such as how to get to Piedmont dining area, Berkely dining area (thinking of splurging there on Chez Pannisse, but not sure yet), UCB, Palo Alto, etc. Thanks everyone (anyone?)! I would check the attached link with AC Transit. BART won't get you quite where you want, especially in Piedmont. AC Transit is usually pretty reliable. Here is the link; http://www.actransit.org/ Give it a try with the information that you have available. Another option is to use 511 on your smartphone if you have it. Gives detailed instructions and times for transit. I know it works great in San Francisco, not sure about Oakland.

Oakland the forgotten city on the other side of the bay. Sorry, I don't have answers for you. The only time I spent time in Oakland was over 25 years ago when I was teaching a sales class. Even then I took BART into San Francisco every night after class.
