      My March-April itinerary is SYD-BNE-MEL-HNL-LAX.
At each location I am looking for free observation decks

I'm a single guy in my mid 20's and was hoping to be around the same age group and atmosphere. Also, is there anything I HAVE to do while I'm there? Any thing that can't be passed up?

      Crime and family safety

      Oahu Feb 5, 2014 at 4:07 PM

We don't want to stay in Waikiki, looking for a more relaxed vacation, like Haleiwa or the North shore area. But, we have not had a lot of experience staying outside of Waikiki. We are looking for something for our two small children, their grandmother, and us. We want to be sure to stay in a safe neighborhood, etc, and we're hoping for a vacation rental very close to the beach. Safe swimming a must too. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

    • travel time from Ihilani resort to the Ala Moana hotel for 8:30 tour?

      Oahu Jan 18, 2014 at 6:39 AM

I will be staying at the JW Marriott Ihilani next week and have a tour on Thursday that meets at the Ala Moana Hotel on Mahukona Street at 8:30 a.m.

What time should I leave Ihilani to get to my tour on time? I have to find parking too. I know with no traffic it's 30 minutes but I have heard traffic can be bad. Would 7:00 a.m. be early enough?

      Any advice appreciated!

      Honolulu Dec 21, 2013 at 11:11 AM

OK I'm getting old so I need something that isn't going to scream special occasion, just something really laid back where I can have some nice food and drink and drown my sorrows. I have been looking at Dukes Canoe Club or Jimmy Buffets. What else should I be considering? We're staying in that part of town at the Royal Garden Waikiki.

      Thanks in advance!

Cabin/bungalow holiday without a hire car?

      Honolulu Dec 6, 2013 at 3:06 AM

Is there somewhere (accessible from Honolulu airport, without hiring a car) that has cabin/bungalow style self contained accomodation near a beach? Thinking of a family vacation, sight seeing, perhaps visit a museum etc with kids, and relaxing on the beach, but don't fancy staying in a big hotel with a view of other big hotels. Any suggestions?
