Christmas transport in Nürnberg

by Meagie Online Now Oct 13, 2011 at 3:18 PM

My husband and I will be in Nürnberg for Christmas this year. Will any public transportation be available on the 24th or 25th? Or will we just have to go on foot?

Thanks

But even if there wasn't you will find that central Nurnberg is remarkably easy to get around on foot...and you will see such a lot more if you walk as much as you can. I found it a surprisingly interesting place to explore. Enjoy your trip!

Public transport shuts down on the 24th some time in the late afternoon/early evening. The 25th and the 26th are just like normal holidays or Sunday, but you might want to make sure you don't get stranded on the 24th. You can look up the times here: vgn.de/CFF6B06F-C0B4-11D7-AE...

On the 24th December the Saturday timetable applies (even in years where this date does not fall on a Saturday). Public transport does NOT stop. And in the night of the 24th/25th December you have the same night bus system like on any Sa/Su night. Which means public transport is available throughout the night.

A VGN day ticket bought for Saturday is also good for Sunday.

Apart from this - the old (walled) city is walkable. The Hauptbahnhof (main train station) is just outside the city walls.
