Hey all, I'm going to study in Bergen from around August to January, staying in student digs and I've got around 14 grand stashed away for it but i hear Norway is very expensive. would this be enough?
How big is big? How old is old? Whether it's enough depends entirely on your personal spending habits. If you go out every night, eating in restaurants, drinking beer and taking taxis, then no. But if you're careful with you money, you'll be fine.

In my experience, and it is somewhat dated as I last visited and played gigs there maybe 12 years ago, Norway (with the possible exception of Monaco which isn't really a country, it is a Principality I believe) is easily the most expensive place I have ever visited. Everything is hideously expensive. You are going to really have to watch the pennies there on that budget for six months.

Hello from Bergen! You will need to contact the student organisation for a student apartment: www.boligtorget.no/sib/Home/Contact prices vary from about NOK 2000,- to 2500,- Figure on about NOK 1000,- a week for food as a minimum And drink beer where the other students go!! Lots of info at the Uni site here: www.uib.no/en This site gives the estimated cost for being a student in Bergen to NOK 45000,- to 60000 per semester: www.nhh.no/en/study-at-nhh/master-programmes/master-in-international-business/costs-and-scholarships/living-expenses.aspx

btw, you need to apply early for cheap student accommodation, as it fills up fast! Private accommodation is a lot more expensive...

Cheers, thankfully as apart of my application to University of Bergen they gave me a guaranteed place depending on where I applied. From memory I applied to fanoft and one of the bed shares across from the university.

Yea, Fantoft is the main student accommodation. The city rail takes you into the centre in about 10 minutes, with a 10 minute walk up to the main part of the Uni
