Skjold, Norway Lutheran church?

by shpadre Online Now Jul 16, 2011 at 3:54 AM

Does anybody know about a Lutheran church in Skjold? Could there be more than one? I'm an American, and my great-grandfather's family lived several miles to the northwest of there before they immigrated to the U.S. (they would have lived there at the end of the 1800s and came to the U.S. in the early 1900s) Next month I am visiting the house where they lived (in Havik), and I am told that they may have attended this church. I am told that the original church burned down but that the records (marriages, baptisms) were elsewhere. I just want to see what may still be in Skjold from the original church (parts of it, a cemetery, the records?). Anybody know who the pastor or caretaker might be?
