after reach chiang rai, want to go wat rong khun/ white temple.
and after that, my first planning is go to golden triangle (but i read, thats take 3 hours from chiang rai to chiang sen?? is't true??)...the problem, i must go to chiang mai with the last green bus at 5.30 pm
can i still go to golden triangle??? with that time???
if i can't go to golden triangle,
can anyone give recomen what interesting or unique places i can go at chiang rai, with my little bit time...
This may sound crazy - however, my friend and I live in the US where we both own Yamaha waverunners. We have been in Laos and Thailand recently and we are now interested in buying two new waverunners, in Thailand/Laos, and traveling down the Mekong River from the Golden Triangle to Mukdahon. (flexible on locations actually)
We would want to purchase the waverunners - take the trip - and then sell them back as used. We would also be looking to hire a Yamaha mechanic to try and follow along our trip with a truck with a double waverunner trailer in case we need to have repairs - or need to pull the boats out of the water. Do you know of anyone that has done this? Would it be allowed?
Not even sure where to look to find out about this.
Thanks in advance.
My husband and I will be in Chaing Mai next week, we had already organised a private tour but the guide has cancelled for personal reasons with his family. This leaves us looking, we do prefer private tours and not going to all the places that are a gimmick we want to see the real Chiang Mai and it' people. If anyone has a good and reliable contact who is reasonable and not wanting to scam us we would really appreciate it.

Hi, me and my boyfriend are planning on travelling around thailand for 3-4 weeks but not backpacking. our travel agent suggested getting a flight from london to chiang mai then internal flights to bagkok, phuket and going to the southern islands. Im not sure whether flying to chiang mai rather than bangkok is a good idea or not financial wise but seems more practical as we want to go to chiang mai first?! We are completely lost on what to pre-book! We have a number of things we would like to see so we're thinking booking them once we arrive, however what to do about accommodation? we have noticed that alot of tours in chiang mai are 3 days so how should we book our hotel? or can we stick to doing day tours with-out missing out on anything and just book the hotel for the length of time we are going to be there? i would be very grateful of some feedback on what is best to do please :)
Hi,
Can anybody advise about cheapest (but still good) elephant tour in Chiang Mai? The ones I could see are above 2000 bahts, which seem to me quite pricey.
Thanks,
A
I'm travelling to Chiangmai in early Feb 2013 with family members and young children. Is there any 4 star hotel with reasonable price that I can stay? Is it cheaper and easy to get a trip in Chiangmai?

I am looking for a good, english speaking guide for a one day private tour that starts and ends in our hotel in Chiang Rai. We will be with our rented car but if the guide comes with his own car - we do not mind. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I HAD POSTED THE QUEESTIONS BELOW AS RESPONSE TO MY PREVIOUS QUESTION ON THE SAME SUBJECT. I DECIDED TO RE-POST IT HERE HOPING IT WILL GET MORE AUDIENCE... Thanks to those who replied to my inquiry regarding traveling north thailand. Despite the suggestions to give up Chiang Rai (CR) and to do the Pie - Mae Hong Son cycle instead, I decided to stick to my original plan and to travel the CR cycle (with some prpposed adaptations). I assume that if I am back to this region, I will do the Pie - Mae Hong Son cycle then.. I did take though into consideration the advise not to drive by ourselves. So, for our CR cycle, we are looking for: 1) 07.02.2013 (CM-CR): A driver/guide with minivan (to carry 4 persons+suitcases)that will take us from CM to CR with some stops on the way as detailed in my 1st question) 2) 08.02.2013 (CR-CR): A guide with a minivan/car that will guide us the day we had planned around CR 3) 09.02.2013 (CR-CM): A driver/guide with minivan (to carry 4 persons+suitcases)that will take us from CR back to CM with some stops on the way as detailed in my 1st question) The proposals I got sofar are 1000 Baht for a driver and 2500-3500 Baht for a guide. If we keep the same driver for the 3 day period, we have to pay additional 500 Baht for his accommodation. Thus, I thought to seek for 3 different persons - one for each of the 3 days above. My guestions are: a) should I hire a driver (has to speak good English) for the way CM-CR in advance or do it upon our arrival to CM? b) are the prices I got reasonable? c) suggestions for good private guide (has to speak good English) for the full day trip around CR. d) will I be able to find an English speaking driver for the way from CR to CM? Again, reponses will be greatly appreciated.
We have 11 days (9 full days) in CM. Wondering if we pick a car fr a/p where can we drive to? Last yr we stayed in town area and bought tours out. We arrive in Bangkok (BKK) airport at 2:35pm and want to catch a flight out to Chaing Mai. I'm not sure how much time we should allow between arriving to Bangkok, clearing customs and then catching our next flight. Let me know if you have any insight, thank you.
Hello All! Im heading to Chiang Mai in April and am wanting to do a Thai Massage course. Does anyone have any recommendations? Cheers.
I'm going to Chiang Mai and plan to live/work their (i build websites so a laptop ands internetaccess is what I need) from January 4-March 2 2013. I'm looking for a nice appartment/studio or a guesthouse for around 10.000 a month including internet access. I need a room with a good table to work at. Preferably in or very close to the old city. Anybody have a good suggestion for me. Would be highly appreciated.
My girlfriend and I will be arriving Jan 7th and are looking for accomidations, Any suggestins on places you have stayed and enjoyed? Budget like I said is15 -90 per night. Prefer AC, does not have to be a big hotel chain at all, prefer something with charm. Another question - Old town or close to the night market???? I have never been to Chaing Mai, any suggestions on what area YOU think is best to stay in and why is GREATLY appreciated! I like being walking distance to places to eat and things to do. We will want to visit temples, market and I"m sure participate in a tour involving elephants. Thank you in advance for your help!!!!
I would like sime insight from visitors to north thailand regarding our (2 couples about 65) travel plan to the chiang mai (CM)-chiang rai (CR) region for 7 nights/days). We will arrive early evening and overnight in CM. The next day we plan to drive to CR (of course, visit places on the way), then to say 2 nights in CR, drive back to CM and stay there the remaining 4 nights. My questions are: 1) is it worth it to rent a car (probably 4WD) in CM airport for 3 days (incl. the drive to and from CR) or better to use public transport or a driver with minivan? 2) Should we take a guide to the northern part (golden triangle, the white temple, the chiang doe cave, doi tung, the hill tribes incl. long necks) or we can do it by ourselves. We are pretty experienced it traveling abroad but not in the far east. 3) When in CM we plan to use the proposed one-day excursions: doi suthep, doi inthanon, pai maybe the active trek with elephant drive, kayaking etc and the gibbon flight. Should we hire a guide a priori or leave it for the hotel front desk? 4) I am not sure how much time we have, but I thought about devoting a day for Pai. Is it worth it? Should we stay a night there giving up one night in Chiang Mai? This is a lot of questions and any response (even on only some of mu questions will be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone interested to share a private car for cost to Pu Chi Fa? early November not latter than 10th. and starting is in Chiang Rai.

Hello, we are interested in doing a hilltribe trek between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. I know there are a plethora of companies that offer this type of service, however I have no idea which ones are better than others. Can anyone recommend a reputable company that is reasonably priced ? Thanks for any advice.
Hi, please kindly advise on best transportation option between Old city CM and Hang Dong. I will be attending 2-weeks Thai Massage course with Pichest Boonthume but would like to stay in the city centre. Basically I need a ride centre - Hang Dong in the morning and the other way in the afternoon, Mon-Fri for two weeks. I was considering finding a deal with a taxi / tuk tuk driver. Does anyone have an idea on approximate costs? Many thanks in advance for suggestions.
Hi all! My boyfriend and I have been to Chiang Mai twice and we love it there! We are planning to go again this year and stay for about 1 month. We would like to know if anyone knows of any decent priced aparments or condos for rent. We know we can get a fairly nice room for about15/night so if it costs too much more than that we will probably just rent at a guesthouse. Thanks so much and looking forward to hearing your comments!! cheers! lisa
