How to get to Noordwijk aan Zee from London without going through Amersterdam?

by mariegb Online Now May 13, 2011 at 9:30 AM

We would like to go from London via train/ferry straight to Noordwijk without having to go to Amsterdam first and then to Noordwijk. Does anyone know if that is possible?
Thanks

Take the Eurostar train to Brussels, then the "Benelux" Intercity train to The Hague, next a local train to Leiden. There take the bus to Noordwijk.

Or the Eurolines bus to Rotterdam (Central Station), there a train to Leiden.

Transportation in The Netherlands (also in English):

Eurostar train doesn't use ferry, does it. It does seem the best option.

But if you're taking a ferry: If you're coming in to Europoort (P&O from Hull) then there's a shuttle bus to Rotterdam. From Rotterdam as described above to Noordwijk aan Zee.
If you arrive at Hoek van Holland (from Harwich but I don't think that'll be your port), then you can take a train from there to Rotterdam.

The question is: by 1)-train or 2)-ferry.

1)-The Eurostar train goes by the Chunnel. Not a ferry.

2)-The Eurolines bus goes by a ferry. Dover-Calais.

You'll never need to go to Amsterdam first by train when you come from the south: just get to Leiden main station (Rotterdam - Schiphol) and take the bus there. (If you can wait for a couple of years and when all goes as planned: they're building a new tram/train way from Gouda, through Leiden to Noordwijk).
